The purpose of the project is to replace raised flooring and carpet tile in ground level offices, install a proper grounding system for the raised floors, and perform other work as indicated in the specifications and drawings provided in the solicitation. The federal agency issuing this solicitation is the Department of Transportation Federal Aviation Administration Southwestern Region.

Additional clarification to questions and answers

7. ESD carpet BONDED to raised floor tile, Manufacture(s) we called said, they Do Not do that at all, have not done that in years. Therefore, it will have to be done manually with a non-toxic odorless adhesive. Is that going to be admissible?

Government answer: ESD carpet is not required. As indicated on the drawings, ESD Vinyl Tile is required in equipment rooms. Carpet tiles may be adhered by installers. Carpet tiles must be installed in a one-to-one configuration that precisely match panels. Carpet tiles will be adhered to panels prior to installation.

Additional clarification requested: As to the response “ESD carpet is not required” can you confirm that? I’ve NEVER done an Enroute facility that did not have a strong ESD requirement for carpet.

Government answer: ESD Protection is only required in certain areas per the Grounding Specification FAA STD-019F, Section 5.8.5.2. The only ESD protected areas that apply to this project will be the Electronic and Equipment Rooms. In those rooms, ESD Vinyl tiles are required, per the drawings. The areas that are called to get carpeted tile are not ESD protected areas.
