STATEMENT OF WORK (SOW)

Level 3 CLEANING AND DISINFECTING GUIDELINES

August 2020

General Description: COVID-19 Cleaning and Disinfecting

These guidelines are in line with the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and must be followed when cleaning the various materials and surfaces contaminated and presumed to be contaminated at FAA facilities.

Cleaning. A process for removing germs, dirt, and impurities from surfaces or objects.

Cleaning works by using soap (or detergent) and water to physically remove germs from surfaces. This process does not necessarily kill germs, but by removing them, it lowers their numbers and the risk of spreading infection.

COVID-19. The name for the illness caused by the novel corona virus that emerged in 2019. The virus is SARS-Cov-2.

Disinfection. The process of killing germs on surfaces or objects. Disinfecting works by using chemicals to kill germs on surfaces or objects. This process does not necessarily clean dirty surfaces or remove germs, but by killing germs on a surface after cleaning, it can further lower the risk of spreading infection.

SARS-Cov-2. The novel (newly discovered) virus that causes the COVID-19 illness.
