About this file
This is a Schedule of Special Inspections document detailing the structural steel welding inspection requirements, specifically related to the PALMDALE ARTCC stairways and loading ramp demolition and replacement project. The document outlines mandatory inspection procedures in accordance with 2021 IBC 1705.2.1 and AISC 360-22 standards.
The schedule specifies two categories of inspections: "PERFORM" tasks that must be completed for each weld, fastener, or bolted connection, and "OBSERVE" tasks that require random daily sampling. Key inspection requirements include verification of welding procedures specifications (WPS), manufacturer certifications for consumables, material identification, welder qualifications, and detailed fit-up inspections for both groove and fillet welds. During-welding inspections cover environmental conditions, consumable handling, equipment settings, travel speed, welding materials, and other technical parameters. The document serves as a quality control checklist to ensure proper execution of structural steel welding work on the project.
