About this file
This document provides details for Addendum No. 001 to the construction contract for the MSTB Facility project. The addendum responds to bidder questions and revises the construction documents. Drawing revisions include noting the PEMB roof insulation system, deleting an allowance specification, and adding signage information. Deleted is Section 01 14 00 (Allowances) as the FAA will directly contract testing. Added is Section 10 14 00 (Signage) providing requirements for room, door and other signs. Replaced drawings include revisions to wall sections, building sections, plans and details to call out items like insulation and signage locations. Specification section 10 14 00 includes sign type, material, mounting and accessibility requirements.

Addendum No. 001 forms a part of the Contract Documents and modifies the original bid documents. Items in this Addendum take precedence over the original documents. Addendum No. 001 consists of the following:
General Information:
The purpose of the Addendum is to respond to Bidders questions and revise the construction documents in response.
Revisions are as follows:
1) Drawing revisions to indicate PEMB Batt roof insulation system noted in Specification
Section 07.21.16.
2) Deletion of Allowance specification Section 01 14 00.
3) Addition of Signage information on Sheet A.201 and revised specification section 10
14 00-Signage.

This is a new sheet that replaces, in its entirety, the original A.201 sheet in the Construction Documents.
2) Refer to attached Sheet A.501. Revisions to this sheet are the wall hatch designating the foam insulation. This is a new sheet that replaces, in its entirety, the original A.501 sheet in the Construction Documents.
3) Refer to attached Sheet A.502. Revisions to this sheet include noting the PEMB roof insulation per spec section 07.21.16. This is a new sheet that replaces, in its entirety, the original A.502 sheet in the Construction Documents.
4) Refer to attached Sheet E.801, Revisions to this sheet include noting CBP wireless access points adjacent to FAA wireless access points, conduit size increase to 2” conduit, and additional conduit and junction boxes between IDF Room 106 and FAA Telecom 107. This is a new sheet that replaces, in its entirety, the original E.801sheet in the Construction Documents.

FAA/MMAC Panel Signage Criteria
1. Sign material is plastic, 1/8" thick, with 1/2" radius corners, and no borders.
2. All versions of sign types 1, 2 and 3 are 8" square; refer to sign type and installation details for additional dimensional information.
3. Colors must be an integral part of the plastic or applied to the back surface of a translucent panel; painted sign faces are not acceptable without an approved request for substitution, subject to construction contract.
4. Submittal requirements include shop drawings, samples of each sign type, and samples of available/requested colors for review and/or selection.
5. The FAA will provide a sign location map and a sign schedule shortly before substantial completion of the construction contract; do not expect signage or CCMS room numbers to match contract documents.
6. Sign panels must contrast with the substrate, and characters/pictograms
(typically white) must contrast with the sign panels.
7. Characters and pictograms must be raised in accordance with current
ADA standards to accommodate tactile examination.
8. The standard method of attachment is two 6" lengths of double sided foam tape, positioned horizontally, 1/4" to 1/2" clear from the top and bottom edges of the panel and 1/2" to 1" clear from the sides of the panel.
Exception: Where a base plate is required, the foam tape will be installed across the full width of the base plate and flush to the top and bottom edges of the base plate.
9. Alternative attachment:
a. Where the substrate texture is relatively planar, but too rough to accommodate foam tape, install a 6" square base plate
(plastic or painted metal) attached to the substrate with a countersunk screw 1/2" to 3/4" from each corner of the plate.
The screws/inserts must be appropriate for the substrate(s) and the base plate must be centered on the intended location of the panel sign. Conceal all fasteners.
b. Where the substrate is very rough (e.g., split-face CMU), the base plate must be installed with stand-offs; refer to sample detail and coordinate with FAA COR. Conceal all fasteners.
c. Where a substrate is transparent, install a blank sign panel on the opposite side of the substrate, aligned with the sign panel.
10. These criteria are in strict accordance with current ADA standards and FAA/MMAC guidelines - deviations are not recommended.
11. Room names shall be limited to the following:
BOILER COMM. CONFERENCE
ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT MECHANICAL
MEN RESTROOM WOMEN
JANITOR STAIRS STORAGE
12. A sign-positioning template is recommended for accurate installation.
13. Available local vendors include, but are not limited to:
Architectural Sign & Graphics, 839 Industrial Drive, Yukon, 354-8829 and; FastSigns, 1401 S. Meridian Ave., OKC, 943-3278.
