RFP 6973GH-23-Q-00177 Syracuse VOR RFIs

1. Is the receptacle inside the teepee being replaced, reinstalled, or permanently removed?

Replace existing receptacle inside of a new teepee. Local FAA request.

2. Spec Section 7E, 10A.6 and 10A.7 call for Resin application if needed and painting if needed.

Since these are not quantified, can these items be made an allowance, so we are all bidding apples to apples?

Yes, please make necessary budgetary allowances for the cost of resin application and painting as “if and there needed” items.

3. Drawing D001 Note 11: Do the obstruction lights get reinstalled, replaced or permanently removed?

I have reviewed site photos. There are no existing obstruction lights at existing VOR. No need to install.

4. Drawing D001: One note says to remove the tern metal plates and dispose of as lead waste, another note says to assume the terne plate is rotted and under the insulation is the remnants of the old asbestos roofing.

It goes on to say to remove everything and dispose of as asbestos waste. Do we dispose of the terne as lead or asbestos?

Contractor shall retain a NYS DOL certified asbestos and lead contractor to assist with abatement of hazardous materials (lead and asbestos).

Locations of work as per Asbestos and Lead Report dated May 24th, 2023.

5. Drawing D002: Is Section C showing existing conditions? Some notes indicate work to be donebut some are not clear. “Remove 3” batt insulation”, “4x6 tapered nailers bolted to C10 with ½” lags”, “Double 2x12 perimeter beam bolted to C10 via clip angles”, are these items existing or work to be done in this contract?

3” Batt insulation is existing and is to remain. Replace any 4”x 6” tapered nails that are rotted as per FAA RE direction. 2”x 1”2 perimeter beams and clip angles are existing and will remain.

6. Drawing D002 Section A: Are we furnishing and installing the spray foam under the existing 2x6 decking?

Spray foam is existing and is to remain

7. Can you please clarify the quantities (currently TBD), specifications (e.g. scrape loose paint/prime etc.) and locations for the required Lead removal? Please see the Asbestos and Lead Report_ May 24th, 2023 & the FAA-SYR VOR Asbestos Report. These documents shall be examined by potential bidder(s). Asbestos and Lead sampling areas are identified in the report clearly. I have not nor will I provide contractor with the quantities of the areas affected. It shall be the contractor’s responsibility to familiarize themselves with the attached documents and to come-up with the quantities. The lead and asbestos material abatement shall be performed by the NYS DOL certified and licensed contractor in accordance with NYS DOL and US EPA guidelines. FAA will not be responsible to identify means and methods of abatement.
