Mobile IDIQ RFI
Do you know how many equipment racks or total Rack units (RU) are required?
The racks are not to be provided by the contractor. (I’m not sure if the contractor is asking this just to estimate the length of raceways needed, or to cost out the racks.) There will be 5 Communications Racks and 1 Demarc rack.
Trailer
It says “the trailer must have D ring tie downs” and then also says “the trailer must have connection points for hurricane/seismic ties downs” are these one in the same? Yes
Equipment shelter
The load center required mentions 200A, but later forward it mentions that main breaker to be 100A? Is that correct? The load center must 200A Rated. The Main breaker will be 100A.
Any idea what’s being installed in the equipment shelter? Seems like a large space for 2-Ton HVAC, this will easily accommodate 6-7 racks 5 equipment racks and an additional demarc Rack
Do you have a defined measurement for the ground plates? No defined measurement at this time
In the pricing you are asking for a base price and a design cost. Do I need to have a design team design this or are you just looking for the manufacturing to supply drawing/submittals?
The bidder should provide a comprehensive design of the completed unit, which can incorporate or refer to manufacturer drawings and specs.
So, are the mobile units with towers all one unit and then we need mobile towers separately? Yes, 8 mobile units w/ tower and 8 mobile towers
I also still do not have the document referenced here. Please see the AJW-23-001- 42613 Rev.0 Shelter Communication Mobile Asset with Rooftop Antenna Mount; 7 pages. I apologize. This is an internal document and am not sure how that information got attached to the solicitation.
Confirm the duration of this IDIQ is 3 years? correct Where will these trailers need to be delivered? we don’t have exact locations, yet How many units are anticipated to be delivered? right now, 8 mobile units w/ tower and 8 mobile towers
Is there a generator requirement? No Generator required, just the Generator feed, disconnect and automatic transfer switch.
Second sentence of the antenna tower specs mentions that the retraction should be electro-mechanically assisted. Is this a requirement and what exactly do they want. Most towers are deployed and retracted with a cable and winch system.
When you telescope the tower the sections are lifted up with the cable system. When you retract the tower the sections are allowed to come down as the cable and winch system allows the cable to come off the drum. The drum is rotated with an electric motor and gearbox. Electric motor and gearbox is acceptable
Ask if they prefer a pneumatic or steel lattice style tower. If we use a steel lattice tower then the trailer starts to get extremely long since they want a 16 foot enclosure. The steel lattice tower requires a pivot base which adds to the length of the trailer whereas the pneumatic tower can be attached directly to the back or front of the enclosure. Pneumatic is fine as long as it adheres to loading requirements
1. Is a shelter exterior height of 90” acceptable? Yes
2. Referencing the below trailer chassis detail, Is the 28’ (w/o coupler) measurement based off A or B? Overall length shall not exceed 28’. In your detail, that would be the unmarked distance from coupler end to tower end sticking off the back.
3. Are the following items being provided by FAA or Contractor responsibility to supply and/or install? All items specified shall all be furnished by the contractor
• Automatic Transfer switch (100 amp with switched neutral)
• TVSS (Rayvoss 120-2S-N1-3-06-A-H)
• Telco/Field cable wallboard (48”x48”x3/4” FRP or fire rated paint)
• 2 - RF Surge enclosure (18”x18”x10” marine grade aluminum or stainless, NEMA
4x)
• Main Ground Plate with cover
• Supplemental Ground Plate with cover
• Multi-Point Ground plate with cover
• 2 – Ground Cable Under mount Enclosures to house exterior ground cables
• 1 - Engine Generator 240VAC, 100Amp, two- pole, single phase, non-fused NEMA
4X lockable disconnect.
• 1 – Dual obstruction light compliant with FAA Advisory Circular 150/5345-43J1
Do you envision this to be a metal Lattice Tower type tower similar to the one shown below, which we can build/supply This type of design would be adequate as long as it meets loading and equipment requirements.
Cables would come up in protective sleeves and guide rings along the outside of this tower, but then would pass to the center of the bracket (apparatus) before going four different directions for the four antennas mounted on the apparatus. Is that acceptable? This type of design would be adequate as long as it meets loading and equipment requirements.
Honestly, I suspect the new SOW isn’t complete, but perhaps it is… :
• no request for electrical power
• no equipment cabinet or I/O called out
• obviously the shelter is gone, thus no need for HVAC. That right?
• define “electro-mechanical retraction” please
• no callouts for what to do with those 16 coax on either end of those cable runs
