About this file
This document is a Unit Base Foundation Summary for a communications tower project for the Manchester Police Department in Connecticut, prepared by Whitestone Project No. GM2421632.000 on April 10, 2024. The preliminary design document details the technical specifications for a H-22' x 180' tower foundation, including specific dimensions, soil parameters, reinforcement design, and anchor steel selection. The design conforms to International Building Code (IBC), ANSI TIA-222-H standards, and Building Code Requirements for Reinforced Concrete (ACI 318-14), with a Seismic Design Category of B.
The foundation summary provides comprehensive technical details, including a 28.50 ft pad width, 6 ft depth, and 3 ft pier diameter. Material properties are specified with steel tensile strength at 60,000 psi and concrete compressive strength at 4,500 psi. The design includes 37 pad rebar bars (size 8), 12 pier vertical bars per pier (size 8), and 14 pier ties per pier (size 4). Foundation loading calculations are provided, with shear, moment, compression, and uplift values. The design notes include requirements for concrete placement, on-site geotechnical engineer confirmation of soil strengths, site grading, and a recommended crushed stone layer under the foundation.

FOUNDATION NOTES
1 CONCRETE IS TO BE PLACED THE SAME DAY THAT THE EXCAVATION IS COMPLETED.
2 THE ON-SITE GEOTECHNICAL ENGINEER SHALL CONFIRM THAT THE INSITU SOIL STRENGTHS MEET OR
EXCEED THOSE PARAMETERS GIVEN IN THE SOIL REPORT.
3 GRADE THE SITE TO DRAIN AWAY FROM FOUNDATION.
4 RECOMMEND THE FOUNDATION BEAR ON A LAYER OF CRUSHED STONE PLACED OVER THE BEDROCK. WHERE
FOUNDATION SUBGRADE IS BEDROCK, FOOTING SHOULD BE UNDERLAIN BY A MINIMUM EIGHT-INCH THICK
LAYER OF MINUS 0.375-INCH CRUSHED STONE
