About this file
This is a sample Bid Bond template document from the City of Owensboro, Kentucky, located at 101 E. Fourth Street, P.O. Box 10003, Owensboro, KY 42303. The document serves as a standardized form for contractors to provide bid security when submitting proposals for city projects, though no specific project details, quantities, response dates, or contract terms are provided in this template version as it contains blank fields for project-specific information to be filled in by bidders and their surety companies.
The bid bond requires the bidder and surety company to jointly guarantee payment of a penal sum to the city upon default, with the surety company required to attach a current Power of Attorney evidencing authority to bind the surety. The bond becomes null and void if the owner accepts the bid and the bidder delivers required agreements and performance bonds within the specified timeframe, if all bids are rejected, or if the owner fails to issue a Notice of Award within the specified time. The document establishes a 30-day payment period after written notice of default, limits legal action to within one year of the bid due date, and requires any lawsuits to be filed in a court located in the state where the project is situated.
