About this file

This document is a U.S. Coast Guard Computerized Maintenance System procedure (R-S-8844) for servicing the R-102 Galley Fire Suppression System located in the ship's galley. The maintenance procedure requires 1 contractor and 1 Petty Officer Second Class (PO2), with an estimated 2.0 task hours per component. The procedure involves detailed steps for disarming the system, weighing and inspecting compressed gas cartridges, replacing fusible links, and re-arming the fire suppression system.

Key technical components include various compressed gas cartridges (CO2 and N2) with specific part numbers, and fusible links in different styles (SL and A-PC). The maintenance process requires specific tools such as a mechanical drive lock bar and weighing scale. Safety is emphasized through multiple warnings, including proper tagging out of equipment and using appropriate eye/face protection. The document includes eight detailed figures illustrating steps like cartridge removal, weighing, fusible link replacement, and system re-arming. The procedure references multiple technical publications and is marked with a Distribution Statement D, limiting distribution to DHS/Coast Guard/DoD and their contractors.
