About this file

This is a Curricular Design Requirements document for the Provo City School District in Utah, which is conducting a Request for Proposal (RFP) to adopt Social Studies curricula for elementary and secondary grades. The District seeks to purchase instructional materials for grades 4-6 across 13 elementary schools, grades 7-8 across 2 middle schools (covering Utah Studies and US History 1), and grades 9-12 across 3 high schools (covering Geography, World History, US History 2, and Government & Citizenship). The RFP anticipates a single contract award to the responsive and responsible vendor with the highest score. All curriculum materials must be available through the Mountain State Schoolbook Depository, as the District will purchase materials directly through that vendor. The deadline for proposal submission is Wednesday, October 7th, 2026 at 2:00 PM Mountain Time. The resulting contract will have a seven-year term with possible one to three-year renewal options, and all pricing must be guaranteed for the entire contract period.

The document outlines six primary requirements for submitted materials: alignment with Utah Core Standards for Social Studies emphasizing disciplinary thinking and inquiry; comprehensive teacher resources with primary and secondary sources supporting deep conceptual understanding; accessible and differentiated materials for multilingual learners, students with disabilities, and advanced learners; varied instructional design including pacing guides, inquiry-based and project-based learning approaches; assessment design with diagnostic, formative, and summative assessments measuring content understanding and disciplinary skills at multiple Depth of Knowledge levels; and training and support services including initial and ongoing professional development available for summer teacher trainings in June and August. All pricing terms must remain fixed throughout the seven-year contract period and any renewal options.
