About this file

This is a bid bond form required by the City of Temple, Texas for the Fire Station No. 2 Renovation & Expansion project. Proposers must submit a bid bond equal to 5% of their proposal amount as a condition of bid submission. The project involves the renovation and expansion of Fire Station No. 2 located at 1710 E. Avenue H in Temple, Texas, including reconfiguration of interior spaces to create six individual bedrooms, two restrooms with showers, a remodeled kitchen and dayroom, an IT closet, and a dedicated office. An approximately 460-square foot addition will be constructed on the east side of the existing living quarters, the existing west porch will be enclosed and converted into a gear storage room, and exterior stone veneer will be removed and replaced. The selected contractor must complete all work within 365 consecutive calendar days from the Notice to Proceed.

The engineer's estimate of probable cost for this project is $1,672,844. The bid bond must be submitted on the City's prescribed form or the City may reject the proposal at its sole discretion if it determines the alternative form does not provide equivalent protection. Proposers must complete the bond form with the principal and surety signatures, along with a Power of Attorney. If a proposer withdraws its proposal after opening and before official rejection, or if awarded but fails to enter into the contract and furnish satisfactory performance and payment bonds, the City is entitled to collect the full bid bond amount as liquidated damages. Venue for any legal action regarding the bond is established in Bell County, Texas.

The City may reject proposals which include bid bonds submitted on something other than the City’s form if it determines in its sole discretion that the bid bond does not provide the same level of protection as the City’s bid bond form provides.
