ITEM RFI QUESTIONS ASSIGNED TO RESPONSE

Sheet E601 shows "ARMS" required on all breakers. There are two 100A drawout breaker frame with a 50 A trip on the one-line. Is the requirement to have these small breakers to be drawout? The specification mentions that the "Design is based on Eaton AR Style breeakers".

The AR series limits itself to 600A frame and the Digitrip 520MC unit lowest setting is .4 on a

600A sensor which is approximately 230A.

B&P

S heet E601 shows "ARMS" required on all breakers. There is a 100A drawout breaker with a 50 A trip on the one-line as well as others that are rated below 1200A trip. Section 26 24 13 section

2.1.B mentions in last sentence " ARMS is required for all circuit breakers that can be adjusted to 1200A or higher." Is the energy reducing maintenance switch required on all breaker? If so -manufacturers do not offer this option on breakers with 100A frames and/or 400A frames.

B&P

Project Manual mentions in Section 26 24 13 Section 2.1.D "Low Voltage AR-Series or Air-

Replacements or approved equal, is the basis for the design in this specification."

Please clarify if Siemens or ABB are approved equals for this federal funded project.

B&P

"Project Manual mentions in 26 24 13 Section 2.2.E " Switchgear lineups designated for new replacement breakers with either increased short-circuit ratings or continuous current capability shall have the bus and bracing verified by Eaton Electrical Services and System Division (EESS) ..."

Please clarify if the manufacturer that provides the replacement breakers can verify the bus and bracing or should it be an independent third party.

B&P

There are two 3200-amp switch boards that need extensive work. At bare minimum, we need to know who the manufacturer of the switch boards is, and what model

(maybe even what year they were made).

B&P

Can you please provide a door schedule to show how many doors are needing to be replaced?

Information about the doors, jambs, hardware, frame etc.

SC

NM15-028 CHAVEZ SWITCHGEAR RFIs

Per 100%CD Set dated 8.19.2020 sheet A100

- Only B17a door will be replaced

- New door to be insulated & painted hollow metal door and frame

- See project manual section 08 71 00 for hardware set

The manufacturer shall verify the bus and bracing of the existing switchgear.

Westinghouse (DBL Breakers), Approximately 1961.

The scope of work for this project is to retrofit the existing 1961 vintage Westinghouse switchgear

(DBL breakers with AR-Series breakers). If Siemens or ABB breakers can be retrofitted into

Westinghouse gear and maintain UL listings, they may be approved equals.

See Response to item 1 above. i.e. 100A drawout CBs are deleted from this project.

The two 100A drawout breakers shall be deleted from the scope of work for this project; however, equipped space (provisions for future CBs) shall be provided by installing 600A bussing in the switchgear cubicle spaces where these existing two 100A CBs are being removed/deleted.
