About this file

This file is a detailed tie-down sketch and instructions (Attachment B) for securing a shipping container during transport. The diagram shows front and rear views of a trailer configuration with specific tie-down points labeled A through G, requiring 11 separate tie-down chains of at least 1/2 inch Grade 7 or equivalent with 11,300 lbs minimum capacity. The document specifies detailed requirements including wood blocking placement, the use of three 2"x12"x10ft wood boards with 0.8 rated friction mats above and below, and a maximum loaded weight of 120,000 lbs.

The sketch includes ten detailed notes covering securing requirements, materials specifications, and special considerations. Key specifications include allowance for additional tie-downs at hauler discretion, specific container orientation requirements, and the option to substitute tie-down "C" with two nylon straps of 5,400 lbs minimum capacity with C2380.9 approval. Norfolk Naval Shipyard (NNSY) is responsible for providing the timbers, friction mat, and cribbing materials.
