About this file

This is a Bid Bond Template document issued by the City of St. George, Utah, in support of the Invitation for Bid (IFB) for Gunlock Well #6 Redrill project. The bid bond template establishes the required bonding mechanism for contractors submitting proposals to drill a replacement well at the Gunlock Well Field, which includes converting the existing well to a monitoring well. The bond document serves as a guarantee that the successful bidder will execute the contract and furnish the required performance bond upon acceptance of the bid. The template includes standard provisions for bond execution, obligee designation, penal sum specification, and conditions for bond release upon contract award and execution.

Bidders are required to submit a bid bond in the amount of five percent of their bid value, issued by a surety company licensed to conduct business in the State of Utah and in a form acceptable to the City of St. George. The surety company must appear on the U.S. Treasury Department's current list (Circular 570) as amended and be authorized to transact business in Utah. Upon bid acceptance, the contractor must furnish a 100 percent performance bond covering both labor and materials for the project. The City of St. George reserves the right to reject any or all proposals and waive any formality or technicality at its discretion. The bid bond template was approved by Legal in May 2024 and serves as the standard bonding form for this procurement.
