Answer: No, the yellow aisle way/traffic lane marking is not required following application of the epoxy floor sealant.
Q2 – Is the epoxy flooring system required to be continued into the new equipment drain trenches to maintain monolithic protection (i.e. new tunnel washer & extraction press drain trench; new drain trenches for the non-production washer extractors; and new drain trenches constructed in the mechanical room for the water storage tank overflows & drain piping)? If no, then are the newly constructed drain trenches to be sealed separately with a polyurethane-based coating, or to remain exposed?
Note – Previous VA washing equipment installations have required the new and existing drain trenches, at minimum, to receive polyurethane based seal coating for chemical resistance.
Answer: The new constructed and existing drain trenches will receive polyurethane-based seal coating for chemical resistance.
3. (pp.7-8) Amendment 0002 requires the successful bidder to provide a temporary construction barrier wall to allow VA personnel to perform linen distribution and storage operations during the installation period.
Q1 – For the design of the temporary barrier wall, will the VA accept installation of the wall system to 8-ft. above finished floor using 4”/6” metal studs at 18” O.C. with 5/8” gypsum board finish on one side only (do not paint); Gypsum board sealed with adhesive tape; Studs extended and secure to underside of existing deck 6’-0” O.C. maximum; Heavy-mil, fire-retardant plastic sheeting installed from top of gypsum board header to underside of existing roof deck above; All penetrations taped and sealed around as needed; and provide a minimum two (2) 3’-0” x 7’-0” x 1¾” H.M. double doors with frames and, remove all work from the premises upon completion of project?
Answer: The VA requires a temporary barrier wall to allow the VA personnel to perform linen distribution and storage operations during the installation period in accordance with the Station’s following standards: height shall be eight (8) feet or higher, with Installation of the wall system to 8-ft. above finished floor using 4”/6” metal studs at 18” O.C. with 5/8” gypsum board finish on one side only (do not paint). Gypsum board sealed with adhesive tape; studs extended and secured to underside of existing deck 6’-0” O.C. maximum. Heavy-mil, fire-retardant plastic sheeting installed from top of gypsum board header to underside of existing roof deck above. All penetrations taped and sealed around as needed. Contractor shall provide a minimum two (2) 3’-0” x 7’-0” x 1¾” H.M. Must have double doors with frames. Upon completion of project, the temporary structure must be removed all work from the premises.
Q2 – Is the successful bidder required to maintain temporary lighting within the VA occupied distribution & storage and maintenance shop room spaces during the installation spaces?

Item #4 – Laundry Ancillary Support Water System:
D. Hot Water Heaters (p.17): Specification requires all controls and trim shall be in compliance with UL Standards.
Q1 – Confirm if the heating system is to be provided with graphics-based industrial PLC lead-lag control with a 8" (min.) touchscreen to monitor, control and display boiler operation information capable of controlling two heaters and have a scheduler system control and gateway and /or web-based dashboard feature as previously provided for past VA steamless water heating systems (i.e. Battle Creek, Little Rock, Bay Pines, West LA, Brockton steamless laundry system installations).
Answer: Yes, the heating system is to be provided with graphics-based industrial PLC lead-lag control with a 8" (min.) touchscreen to monitor, control and display boiler operation information capable of controlling two heaters and have a scheduler system control and gateway and/or web-based dashboard feature as previously provided for past VA steamless water heating systems.
Item #6 – Continuous Wash Extract Tunnel System (Production Dryers) – Technical Specifications
1. Para. u. (p.34) Specification references provision of a new secondary lint filter system located on the roof level, connected to the new production dryer exhaust ducts.
Q1 – Confirm furnishing and installing a secondary lint filter system is a requirement, or is a ‘typo’ carried over from a previous project specification that too was later removed from the project. (Secondary lint filtration on the roof level is somewhat redundant given the detailed specification requirements for the CWES dryer external lint filters that are required.)
Answer: The Technical Specifications have been updated to reflect the removal of Paragraph “u. All new exhaust duct work for the dryers located on the roof shall be connected to a new secondary lint filter system.”
