About this file

This document is an amendment to a solicitation for a new cemetery development project in Cedar City, Utah. The amendment extends the bid opening date from July 9, 2020 to July 16, 2020 at 10:00 AM Mountain Time and provides responses to contractor questions about specifications. The National Cemetery Administration within the Department of Veterans Affairs is seeking bids for the Rural Initiative in Cedar City project numbered 942CM3001. Services required include construction of a new cemetery and fill material meeting General Fill specifications for the cremains section to a depth of 3.5 feet below finished grade. Manufacturers confirmed the ability to design a prefabricated building with a sloped floor and blockouts for utilities as required. The amendment addresses contractor questions about allowable fill material, building specifications, and clarifies the presence of subsurface boulders on site.

CEDAR CITY_ Rural Initiative – New Cemetery Development Contractor Questions & GOV Responses

65. The Bid opening is extended from 7-9-20 to 7-16-20. The call in number and code for the virtual bid opening is still: Call Line: 844-376-0278 Code: 195 459 2452#

66. The CXT rep’s email below states they do not offer the sloped floor that you say they do. See below:

Johnathan, A couple of things I noticed.

It looks like 3 blockouts 1 floor drain and 2 for pipes on opposite sides of the building It also looks like they want the floor to slope to the center. We cannot do that with this building. All parts of the building are prebuilt forms.

66. GOV Response: . The manufacturer stated that his engineer could do the sloped floor, and the blockouts for all of the utilities. Also need to add a mini-split for heating and cooling. He said his designer would design the size. He will get all of the numbers put together and send it to the contractors. ‘Add mini-split heating/cooling unit as required for the size of the building and the Cedar City climate.’

67. So any basalt selves are considered boulders? The rock spec is not clear.

67. GOV Response: The geo technical stated that there are both a large exposed boulder on the surface and large subsurface boulders on the site.

68. There is nothing in the spec or on the plans that calls out the fill material for the cremains section.

68. GOV Response: Contractor shall provide fill material for the cremains section to a depth of

3.5 feet below finished grade. This fill material shall meet the requirements of “General Fill” per Part 2.1 of spec section 31 20 00 - Earth Moving.
