Fort Gibson National Cemetery Gravesite Expansion Contractor Questions & GOV Responses
The Bid opening for 36C78620B0002 is 2-24-2020 at 2:00pm EST.
112. Are the Gravesite Grid Monuments Grid Marker to be Aluminum or Bronze? Plans state, “FORGED ALUMINUM DOMED-TOP MONUMENT MARKER WITH 1 5/8" SERRATED STEM”. The specs state “2. Gravesite Grid Markers: Bronze survey marker (Grid Marker) with insulator set on No. 10 soft metric (No. 6) rebar. 1) Grid Marker: Domed-top, 81 mm (3 1/4 inches) diameter, bronze concrete marker.”
112. GOV Response: Comply with the Specifications, Bronze.
113. Do the crosshairs need to be field engraved/incised if they are parallel/perpendicular with the grid?
113. GOV Response: Comply with the Specifications, field engrave.
114. The written specifications call for valve boxes constructed of precast concrete. Where in this cemetery are this type of valve box to be used? How many? What size. What brand do you have in mind? Old Castle? Then under accessories in Section 2.10, there is also writing about using what we consider irrigation industry standard valve boxes in plant bed areas: HDPE structural foam type A, Class III. From looking at the landscape plans, there are no landscape beds. Everything is bermudagrass and trees. It is very important to get clarification in this matter, since the cost difference between precast concrete valve boxes and HDPE is enormous. Are all the valve boxes to be precast concrete or can all of the valve boxes be HDPE.
114. GOV Response: All valve boxes on this project shall be Rain Bird VB Series Valve Boxes (or equal). Match existing in previous phase.
115. What manufacturer do you have in mind for HDPE structural foam TYPE A, class III with a key-lockable hinged cast iron cover. I have been researching NDS, Highline Access and Carson and am unable to find an HDPE valve box with a hinged, cast iron cover.
115. GOV Response: All valve boxes on this project shall be Rain Bird VB Series Valve Boxes (or equal). Match existing in previous phase.
116. The written specifications call for ASSE 1013 backflows at each new point of connection. Yet there are no specifications as to what you want for backflow enclosures (such as a HOT Box, insulated box with heat). Can you please clarify?
116. GOV Response: No backflow is required on this project
117. Is there an approved equal for the Griswold controls 8” master valve? Why do the plans call for an 8-inch master valve when the largest pipe is just 3 inches? I do not follow.
117. GOV Response: Master valve size is 4” intake side and coupled down to 3” outflow side. Griswold brand or approved equal.
118. There is not a solar-powered option for the Rain Bird controller you mention.
118. GOV Response: Solar not required.
119. Unless you add the Rain Bird IQ software, there will be no central computer, flow monitoring, moisture sensor, ET, measurement device, rain measurement device, wind measurement device, etc. The drawings do not call out a smart controller, which would be the definition.
119. GOV Response: No central controller required.
120. The attached specifications have been revised to reflect changes based on RFI questions. It is the winning contractor’s responsibility to verify changes in the revised specs attachment with the original specifications and all GOV responses in all RFI amendments.
See attached document: S06_Amendment-0004_Attachment-1_Revised Specs_844CM3023.
