| Access to the work area is limited to a small vehicular/pedestrian passage as noted in the picture below. We do not believe this access will permit the necessary construction equipment (i.e., cranes, drill rigs, etc) and materials (steel, AHUs, etc) to be delivered to the work area. Is it acceptable for the Contractor to construct a temporary construction access road from the WV Veterans Nursing Facility drop-off lane? This will greatly impact the daily operations of this facility and will require restoration of the disturbed area. Another option would be to demo the lid and pedestrian ramp within the passageway. If neither of these is acceptable, please confirm how the VA would prefer us to access the work area. |
Means and methods are the purview of the contractor. However, our constructability experts have looked at materials and equipment access to the site and have determined that, through the use of the CLC parking lot, cranes and other conveyance equipment, construction access is possible using the vehicular/pedestrian passage.
