1. 3-16-21 4-13-21 In reviewing the documents for this project, we found that drawing AE401 - Stair Plans and Sections was not listed in the Table of Contents on the Cover Sheet. Is this drawing meant to be a part of the project?
Sheet AE401 – Stair Plans and Sections is part of the project.
2. 3-18-21 4-13-21 Ref specification 32 31 40, part 2.3- What type of anti-ram gate is required? Specs don’t list a height or style (chain link, ornamental, etc.). Can further information be provided in addition to drawing details?
No security requirements for the height or style of the gates. Recommend using the standard crash-tested height of 8’ for the Tymetal Corp. Model TCGR-12 gate contained in Addendum No. 1 attachment. The PSRDM recommends that gates should be of the same or similar design and materials as the adjacent fences. As there are no direct fences that this gate attaches to, confirm overall aesthetic with owner.
3. 3-19-21 4-12-21 Just confirming for the expanded primary care project. Is there a new generator system or is this being added to the existing parallel system? I cannot find any generator system on the drawings/specs but wanted to confirm before taking this off my list.
No new generator.
4. 3-29-21 4-13-21 Ref specification 32 31 40- Would a Tymetal anti-ram gate be acceptable if utilizing the model TCGR 12?
Replacement gate is acceptable.
5. 3-30-21 4-13-21 We are seeking a door substitution. The proposed substitution is for the Moderco - Model 843 E door. This is not a manually operated continuously hinged door.

In addition a 3rd party inspector in required. Is this applicable to all firestopping work in new addition and the existing renovated areas?
Firestopping contractor does not need FM Global approval but project will require a 3rd party Inspector.
14. 4-6-21 4-13-21 Ref drawingG001- It appears 3rd party inspection is required for the building envelope when utilizing NFPA 285 compliant wall assemblies. Per specification 07 27 26, any substitution requires 3rd party testing and report.
Is 3rd party testing only required if substitutions are used or is 3rd party testing required for noted compliant wall assemblies and or substitutions?
The notes do not call for on-site inspections or testing. They require that all components, making up the final construction, must conform to a third party tested, NFPA 285 compliant wall assembly.

18. 4-6-21 4-12-21 Ref drawing S800 detail 1- What specific areas of the foundation will require over excavation or thickened footings? If unsuitable bearing capacity soils are found how will over excavation or thickened footing costs be handled? Will costs be covered as a change to conditions? Will over excavation costs be based on a unit cost per loose yard? If unsuitable bearing capacity soils are encountered will over excavation be the preferred correction method or does the VA want thickened footings?
Detail 1 is included to account for conditions that by their very nature cannot be defined – they are unanticipated. Reference Spec. 31 20 01; Section 3.2.A.5 – Contractor is required to hire Geotechnical Engineer. 19. 4-6-21 4-20-21 Spec 01 00 00 Schedule- Per specification the project completion is 576 from NTP. Phase 0 is called as 90 days. Phase 1 is to be complete 476 days from NTP which leaves 386 days to actually complete phase 1 and 70 days to complete phase 2. Depending on award and an approved progress schedule which will dictate the issuance of notice to proceed, when will the project be awarded? Can more time be added for phase 1 considering the required sequence of work in addition to unforeseen delays due to maintaining full time dock access while installing utilities and new roadway?
The Specification stated “no later” then 90 days.
Phase 1 can start earlier then 90 days after the NTP if Phase 0 requirements are met. In addition, the WE Energy work to relocate power will be permitted to start during Phase 0.
20. 4-6-21 4-12-21 Ref drawingS810- Detail 4 requires vertical structural steel reinforcement as part of the blast resistant structure at window type B& D but does not identify the size and shape of material required. Also mounting details for the verticals are not shown at sill, lintel, floor or deck. Can further drawing details be provided for mounting vertical reinforcement? Is blast resistant structural steel reinforcement required at curtain wall type A & C? Is the fluid applied insulation coating required on all blast resistant structural reinforcing before installation or after install which will then partially be concealed in masonry?
Reinforcement for CMU walls, which includes blast reinforcing, is noted in plan on S200.
Reinforcing shown in 4/S810 is supplemental, and should match adjacent wall reinforcement as to size. Provide 1#4 each side. Unclear what additional “mounting” details are desired – Details 10/S810 and 11/S810 show lintel and sill details. See architectural window details in drawings for mounting of windows to wall.
Curtain wall mullions are capable of handling blast loads. Attachment of mullions to foundation and floor diaphragms is noted in details 13/S810 and 14/S810. Do not apply fluid insulation coating to surface of structural steel embedded in CMU, or which must be field welded – apply after installation of structural steel elements.
21. 4-6-21 4-13-21 Ref specification 07 21 63- Part 3.9 Insulation Coating Schedule- The various mil thicknesses are provided but no R values are shown. What R value is required for the fluid applied insulation coating for the various thicknesses noted in the schedule?
Coating is for thermal break. Provide thickness as indicated. R-value not applicable.
