2.
Spec 09 51 00 – 2
2.2 A.3, Please clarify: RCP’s A211, A212, A213, A221 call out for ACT 1 and ACT 2. The specs give no details of either ACT 1 or ACT 2.
A revised Section 09 51 00 has been attached with specifications for each type. A revised Section 09 06 00 has also been reissued to coordinate.
3.
Spec 09 51 00 – 2
2.3A Specs mention heavy grid, supplier questions whether owner needs heavy duty for this project. Intermediate grid is commercial strength.
Intermediate grid is acceptable. Section 09 51 00 attached.
4.
Spec 09 51 00 - 2
Since there are two types of tile, does there need to be two types of grid? Please specify.
No, same grid shall be used.
5.
What is the existing tile called out in RCP A211 room #S135 existing?
Room S135 shows new ceiling specified.
6.
09 30 00 Ceramic/Porcelain Tile
The Specs appear to be missing a specification concerning ceramic/porcelain tile.
See Section 09 30 13 attached.
7.
Integrated Door Assemblies
The government has provided a schedule for the auto door openers (Spec Section 08 17 10) but there is no direction as to where they should go.
The “O” modifier on the tags and schedule indicates the doors which receive operators.
8.
Door Schedule page A-601
On the door schedule page A-601, “Door Elevations” Doors 1, 2, 3, and 4, they have notes for glazing on the door elevation and Doors 1 & 2, they have type TA or F for these doors. TA is Tempered and F is fire rated. There are 35 doors, but the locations are shown , but does not indicate which doors get what type of glass. Fire rated glass is very expensive.
Doors 3& 4 have glass types TA and W. There is no listing for a W type glass.
Glazing modifiers T, A, or F indicate the doors that have vision lites. If the modifier is not shown, there is no vision lite on the door.
9.
There is a clarification needed with the engineered fill under the floor slab. Detail 1/S-300 clearly shows there being 12” of engineered fill under the floor slab. This will require about 6” of existing material to be excavated out of the entire 1st floor area. Specification 03 30 00 3.3 Vapor Barrier, says there is to be a continuous 10mil vapor barrier with 4” of fine granular fill on top of the vapor barrier. This detail and the vapor barrier specifications do not mesh. Are we to put the 4” of granular fines on top of the engineered fill making it 16” of fill? Please clarify with either a revised detail or a revision to the vapor barrier specification.
The finished earthwork was designed at 12” below top of existing floor (99’). This will allow 8” of granular fill and 4” of cast-in-place concrete. Contractor shall field-verify existing elevations.
Detail 1/S-300 shall be changed to 8” engineered fill and 4” cast-in-place concrete. Also, in Specification 03 30 00, 3.3 Vapor Barrier, remove A.1.

Section 08 80 00 & 08 80 00
Section 088000- Glazing and 085619 Pass Windows: We have been asked by a general contractor if we are including the 242 Resinous Panels (RESW1) as shown on detail E1, Pg. A510 of the Architectural drawings. They are not specified in the Glazing section 088000 and cannot find them specified in any other bid sections, nor can I find them specified in any finish or equipment schedules. If you could please clarify as to where I might be able to find the specification for them as possibly I have just overlooked it.
See attached specification 09 06 00, 2.2, A.
17.
Sheet P-221
On sheet P-221, Soiled Utility Rm 218 has a ‘GFCI-2’ shown. This is not shown on the government furnished equipment schedule on P-500. Please clarify what this is.
Unit is a waste management docking station (Stryker Neptune 2). Provide ¾” CW & 1-1/2” trap as noted in P19.
18.
Glycol
If I understand the attached specification section properly, there is to be 50% inhibited glycol in all the “run-around coil systems” piping. This would lead one to believe the existing closed loops in the facility have 50% glycol mix also. I would like to clarify that and would also like to know what brand & type of glycol is in the existing system.
The existing closed loop systems shall be 30% inhibited glycol based on ambient temperatures. The existing system uses Rhomar propylene glycol.
19.
Fireproofing
There is no location on the drawings that show where the fireproofing is to be installed.
Sheet S-121, Keyed Note 2: Add sentence to the end of the note, “SPRAY APPLY FIREPROOFING TO UNDERSIDE OF DECK AND EXPOSED PORTIONS OF STRUCTURAL STEEL SUPPORTS TO ACHIEVE A 2-HOUR FLOOR TO FLOOR SEPARATION.”
20.
Is there a pathway from the existing second floor remodel area to the accessible ceiling on first that can access the communications closet TCS103?
The pathway reaches the second floor corridor ceiling in the new surgery addition.
