About this file
This is a Questions and Answers document for RFQ 36C26226Q0884, addressing contractor inquiries regarding fire sprinkler inspection services at the San Diego VA Medical Center. The document clarifies key operational and technical requirements for the solicitation. Annual inspections must be conducted on a quarterly basis (broken across three months) to minimize disruption to construction operations supporting patient care. The facility contains 98 tamper switches (plus Building 26), 69 flow switches (plus Building 26), approximately 3 pressure switches, 3 Fire Department Connections (FDCs) in Building 1 and 1 in other buildings, and 12 main drains (plus Building 26). There are no hose racks to inspect. The contract requires inspections based on NFPA 25 standards. The VA will accommodate a pre-bid site visit to allow contractors to assess existing conditions. Additionally, 12 hydrants on campus require annual flow inspections due in September. Contractors seeking historical data from the previous five-year contract should reference Contract No. 36C26223P2537 on SAM.gov for the total contract amount.
