About this file
This is a Question and Answer (Q&A) document for solicitation 36C26125R0012, a Department of Veterans Affairs project to consolidate sterile supply rooms (Project Number 570-22-219). The document addresses a single technical question regarding pressure monitors shown in detail 8 on Sheet M-501. The question concerns connecting new pressure monitors to a Bacnet MS/TP trunk in areas where only older Johnson Controls N2 Protocol systems exist.
The VA's response clarifies that the project's intent is to connect new pressure monitoring devices to the existing building automation system for monitoring and alarming at the central plant. The VA recommends contractors first attempt to connect to existing systems and install additional devices and trunks as needed. If space limitations exist due to other projects, new supervisory controller(s) can be installed in coordination with the VA Contracting Officer's Representative (COR).

36C26125R0012 | Consolidate Sterile Supply Rooms | Project Number 570-22-219 Request for Information (RFIs)
1. Referencing detail 8 on Sheet M-501, the new pressure monitors are shown to be connected to a Bacnet MS/TP trunk. Most of the areas where the pressure monitors are being installed do not have an existing MS/TP communication trunk installed nearby, instead, the facility is populated with the older Johnson Controls N2 Protocol connected to existing supervisory controllers than cannot communicate simultaneously to the N2 protocol and the Bacnet MS/TP protocol. In order to communicate to the new pressure monitors, a new supervisory controller(s) would need to be installed along with a new MS/TP communication trunk to all of the devices. Is this the intent for this project? The intent of this project is to connect the new pressure monitoring devices to the existing building automation system for monitoring and alarming at the central plant. The devices can be connected to the existing control system as needed to allow for that monitoring and alarming. We would recommend the contractor first connect to existing and install additional devices and trunks as required. If there is not enough available space on the existing system due to the spaces being utilized by other projects then a new supervisory controller(s) can be installed in coordination with VA COR.
