About this file

This document is a Stormwater Pretreatment Runoff Calculation for a construction project at Jones Hall Mountain View, prepared by GDM Architects + Engineers and dated 09-10-2024. The calculations demonstrate the volumetric requirements for stormwater management within a 1.06-acre project area, specifically focusing on detaining the first 1 inch of rainfall runoff. The analysis shows that the proposed detention area will capture 3,903 cubic feet of stormwater, which exceeds the required 3,847 cubic feet for pretreatment.

The technical details include a detention basin with a bottom elevation of 21.00 NAVD-88 and a raised rim elevation of 22.00 NAVD-88. The basin has a bottom surface area of 1,991 square feet and bank slopes of 15:1, with a perimeter of 255 feet. The accompanying site plan and cross-section diagrams illustrate the detention basin's layout and characteristics, prepared for the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs' Office of Construction and Facilities Management.

Pretreatment Stormwater Runoff Calculations Date: 09-10-2024

Calculations below demonstrate the volumetric calculations for the pre-treatment of the storm water runoff within the project boundary scope.

Known:

Project area: 1.06 acres

Pre Treatment rainfall (in) first 1 inch of runoff

Total Run off volume Project Area * runoff /12

1.06 acres * 1 inch /12

= 0.09 AF

Dry Detention Sizing Required:

Volume required to be detained for pretreatment: 0.09 AF ~ 3,847 cuft

Proposed bottom of detention area: 1,991 sqft

Bottom of Detention is set at Elevation: 21.00 NAVD-88

Proposed raised rim elevation 22.00 NAVD-88

Detention Bank slopes: 15:1

Perimeter of center of bank: 255 ft

Bottom Surface Area A1: 1,991 sqft

Cross Section of Bank Area A2: (15*1)/2 = 7.5 sqft

Volume of Area 1 V1: 1,620 sqft * 1 ft = 1,991 cuft

Volume of Area 2 V2: 7.5 sqft * 255 ft = 1,912 cuft

Total Volume provided: 3,903 cuft

Volume required: 3,847CuFt

Therefore, Stormwater pretreatment volume requirement has been met with a total detained volume of 3,903 and a raised rim inlet set at 22.00 NAVD-88. See exhibit attached for diagram.
