About this file

This document is an update to a Hazardous Material Survey Report for the Veterans Affairs Medical Center (VAMC) Building 1 Basement. The report documents the removal of asbestos-containing vinyl composite tile flooring and mastic from rooms C005, C005C, C005D, and C005E. Asbestos-containing soil was also removed from the steam pit in room C005E and encapsulated with concrete. The report also notes that asbestos-containing material remains under an exhaust fan in room C005E, which will need to be abated if the fan is ever relocated. An earlier update in June 2021 documented the removal of asbestos-containing soil from room A004B, which was then encapsulated with concrete.

The document is related to a federal contract opportunity, Solicitation Number 36C26024R0106, for the upgrade of AHU-1 and AHU-4 mechanical systems at the VAMC. The solicitation is issued by the Department of Veterans Affairs, Veterans Health Administration, Veterans Integrated Service Network 20.

UPDATE 20‐058.5‐A, VAMC, Bldg. 1 Bsmt; L‐HazMat

Good Faith Regulated & Hazardous Material Survey Report

15 Jun 2022

The purpose of this update to the Bldg. 1 Basement Hazardous Material Survey, dated 29 Sept

2020, is to document asbestos containing material removed from rooms C005 and to document ACM remaining. In June 2022 ACM vinyl composite tile flooring and mastic were abated from rooms C005, C005C, C005D and C005E. Rooms C005A and C005B were not included as both have unfinished concrete floors with no ACM. The ACM flooring is referenced on page S‐3 of the Basement Hazardous Material

Survey.

ACM flooring was not removed beneath EF‐02, in the northwest corner of C005E. The Flooring and mastic were cut flush with the metal feet. Remaining tile beneath the feet was coated with encapsulant. If this exhaust fan is ever moved, the remaining material will need to be abated.
