This entire statement is confusing. This project is fully designed and has been approved by the VA to bid. Please clarify what the intention of this statement is or remove it from the contract documents.

a. This deals with submittals where existing building elements will be used to create the Contractor produced submittal drawings. If any existing building element dimensions are to be used, it is the contractor’s responsibility to verify the existing as-built condition/dimensions of the space.

35. Statement of Work 1.2.12 alludes to the possibility of two phases. One NTP for

Submittals and another for the actual construction?

a. Yes, there will be a two-phased notice to proceed. A Limited notice to proceed for submittal approval and a Notice to proceed for construction activities.

36. Has a Hazardous Materials Survey been conducted and available for all aspects of this construction project? Federal Regulation (40 CFR Section 61.145) requires that building owners conduct, or have conducted a Survey for Asbestos Containing Materials (ACM), or Presumed Asbestos Containing Materials (PACM) and other hazardous materials

(such as lead, PCB’s, mold, etc.) prior to the start of any demolition or renovation activities. The Survey must be conducted by an AHERA/EPA Certified Building

Inspector. Copies of any materials testing data, and the complete report must be maintained by the Owner, and provided to any and all contractors who propose to work for the specific renovation activities.

Contractor shall be prepared to receive this equipment from Government and store or place such equipment not less than 90 days before Completion Date of project. Please identify what equipment the contractor will be storing. Contractor does not want to be responsible for storing the MRI machine, magnet, cooling system. These are very expensive and would require special storage. Contractor needs to know exactly what and how much equipment we will be storing for 90 days as this could potentially be costly.

a. There are tables which indicate equipment, who it is furnished by and who installs it. In the case of equipment being furnished from GE will be considered

GFE since the government has purchased the equipment from GE. The contractor is to coordinate with GE for delivery of items required to be installed by the contractor. The MRI machine, magnet, and cooling system will be delivered when it is ready to be installed. A list of GFE has been provided with the addendum.

41. Will the contractor’s Site Superintendent be able to act as the SSHO and Quality Control

Manager or will the contractor be required to provide multiple personnel to fill these onsite positions?

a. Yes, the Site Superintendent can act as the SSHO and QC manager.

42. Keynote 5 on sheet AC101 states, “Existing patient lift relocated from building 1, Room

B504, cut and alter to fit space. Coordinate with patient lift manufacturer.”
