About this file

This is an Environmental Testing Protocol document that establishes the bacteria testing requirements for potable water at the George E. Wahlen VA Medical Center. The protocol specifies that routine bacterial testing within the water distribution systems of Buildings 1, 3, and 14 will be conducted monthly, with three sampling sites per month (one site per building). Water samples must be collected by contractor staff using EPA Quick Guide procedures from locations representative of the entire distribution system, excluding restrooms, janitor closets, and other areas with potential outside contamination. Samples must be transported to a certified testing laboratory within 24 hours of collection using bottles provided by the contractor.

The protocol establishes that the Engineering Service controls sampling site determination, while the state of Utah determines water testing frequency. Repeat sampling procedures shall follow the Utah Division of Drinking Water's DDW-2022-035825 BacT Repeat guidance. Positive laboratory results must be provided to the Contracting Officer's Representative as soon as possible to minimize patient exposure risk. This document serves as Attachment D to solicitation 36C25926Q0419 for potable water testing services at the VA facility.
