The purpose of this amendment is to provide answers to questions.

All other terms and conditions remain unchanged.

1. Door sizes on plans show for a 3'0 x 7'0 frame. To get a net slide of 36 inches the frame would need to be 7ft. wide and a standard height of automatic door is 7'6" Tall.

Response: The manufacture’s standard size for the 3'0 x 7'0 door is 7 ft.wide but we had spoken with the Basis of design manufacturer Assa Abbloy and they assured us that they could detail a frame in the existing space which the drawings call to be field verified. They would submit the required shop drawings with those modifications. The opening may need the door swung to provide hood access but that would be determined in shop drawings. The code required clearance is less than the 3 ft indicated.

Yes the door with the frame is 7’6” tall.

See attached basis of design manufacture’s installation drawing.

2. Threshold detail #8 for Door #1010 shows the track to be cut into the concrete. The door installer is not sure this can be done at this location. Can the same track as shown in Detail #9 be provided for this door location.

Response: The two doors are different systems. Verify with door manufacturer but I think the existing wall to too thick to accommodate that guide rail. We cannot have a raised threshold type track into the compounding area. Please describe the problem with the recessed threshold track installation.

3. Locking for these doors is calling for a fail secure auto lock. Do we need to have a throw bolt with a keyed cylinder as a back up to secure these doors? Also, are key switches acceptable to turn automatic on/off.

Response: The specification calls for these doors to fail safe not fail secure. They should only have the interlock systems in place. No throw bolts are allowed and the doors are not to be secured to my knowledge.

4. The existing floor is epoxy coated. This will extremely hard to remove possibly requiring cutting with a demo saw, chipping tool and/or grinding. Given the location and high probability of noise and dust is this going to be acceptable or could the new flooring be installed on top of the existing flooring/base?

Response: The new floor can be installed over the old per manufacturer’s directions and provided it is secure and stable..

5. The HEPA Cabinets and Interlocking doors will have significant lead time (8 – 12 weeks) – confirm that the contract days will not start until these items can be submitted/approved and shipped.

Response: That is a question for the Project Manager and the COR. The deadline for completion is probably fixed based on certification requirements. The other work can be done during the shop drawing and fabrication process.

6. Please verify the requirements for the temporary infection control barrier, type B – this wall appears to require insulation and cove base (Drawing G101). Can the wall be sealed with plastic/fire tape rather than installing cove base?

Response: Yes, provided a seal is obtained and the adhesive is removable.

7. Specifications section 01 35 26 22 calls for a 2 hour fire rated door/frame that is painted. Confirm that the existing door can be used until the new door is installed.

Response: Yes, with COR approval.

7. Plan page P-001 call for lav faucet only but P-101 calls for a new lav. Clarify which is correct. Also will this lav require a carrier or just a wall bracket. On G-001 The lay down area is currently being used for the 3rd floor remodel.

Response: Provide a new lavatory (deep sink) and faucet per the specifications.

8. Will Pro Press fittings be allowed?

Response: Pro Press fittings are acceptable.

9. A-101 Calls for a sink mounted eye wash and p-101 call for relocating eye wash to wall mounted above sink. Clarify which is correct.

Response: Relocate the existing wall mounted eye wash to a location near the new sink.
