About this file

This document is a collection of asbestos bulk analysis laboratory reports for samples collected from Audie Murphy VA in San Antonio, Texas. The reports were prepared by Environmental Hazards Services, L.L.C., with all samples received on August 12, 2013, analyzed on August 13-14, 2013, and reported on August 14, 2013.

The analysis covered nine sample sets from different interstitial areas (AC-1-1A, AC-1-1D, AC-1-1E, AC-1-2A, AC-1-2B, AC-1-3E, AC-1-4A, AC-1-4E, and AC-1-6A), with each set containing nine samples examined for asbestos content using EPA Methods 600/R-93/116 and 600/M4-82-020 via polarized light microscopy. The reporting limit was 1% asbestos. Key findings indicate asbestos presence in several samples: 5% chrysotile in AC-1-1A sample 1 and AC-1-4A sample 1; 3% chrysotile in AC-1-1E samples 1 and 8, AC-1-2A sample 1, and AC-1-3E sample 1; and 2% chrysotile in AC-1-4E sample 1 and AC-1-1E sample 8. Remaining samples showed no asbestos detected (NAD) or did not analyze due to positive stop procedures. All samples contained various non-asbestos materials including cellulose, wollastonite, fibrous glass, talc, and non-fibrous components. Quality control procedures employed SRM 1866 Fiberglass blank and identified QC samples, with results reviewed and authorized by Tasha Eaddy, QA/QC Clerk.

(TEM), (for enhanced detection capabilities) for materials regulated by EPA NESHAP (National Emission Standards for Hazardous Air Pollutants) and found to contain less than ten percent (<10%) asbestos by polarized light microscopy (PLM). Both services are available for an additional fee.

400 Point Count Analysis, where noted, performed per EPA Method 600/R-93/116 with a Reporting Limit of 0.25%.

* All California samples analyzed by Polarized Light Microscopy, EPA Method 600/M4-82-020, Dec. 1982.
