About this file

This document contains a technical specification for a federal construction project to replace an air handling unit and ductwork at a Department of Veterans Affairs medical facility.

The specification outlines motor and electrical requirements for HVAC equipment. It requires premium efficiency electric motors that meet NEMA and IEEE standards for performance and efficiency. Single phase motors must be split phase or PSC type, while polyphase motors must be squirrel cage induction type. Motor enclosures, voltage ratings, horsepower sizing, bearing specifications, and other details are provided. The specification also includes submittal requirements, testing procedures, installation instructions, and commissioning and training requirements.

The related federal contract opportunity is a solicitation to replace AHU-104 and conduct associated construction work at the VA medical center in Alexandria, Louisiana under project number 502-19-107.
