X X The purpose of this Amendment is to:
A. Provide clarification, and add to , the existing information already provided on this project.
B. All other terms and conditions remain unchanged.
Beth A. Cook Contracting Officer A. The purpose of this Amendment is to clarify, and add to, the existing information already provided on the project.
B. The following information is provided to clarify, and add to, the existing information already provided on the project:
1. The plans identify on certain areas that have siding replacement, while during the site visit it was made clear we were to replace the siding on the entire building. We are replacing the siding on the entire building, correct?
A: Yes, siding shall be replaced on entire building.
2. There is wooden framing for the bottom of the siding around the perimeter of the building, the part covering the crawlspace. Due to the moisture content beneath the building, are we to replace this our use existing?
A: Any item that is rotted needs to be replaced. If any item is deemed reusable, it can be used.
3. Using the 4 x 8 sheets of hardie siding as per spec, we are going to have seams running down the side of the building even after they are caulked and painted. Does the VA want the seams to show or do they want to cover them with trim boards?
A: The specs call for 4 x 10 sheets. There shall be no trim for the vertical seams.
4. Most important one. Electrical sub says if we want to move the mounted boxes and electrical gear (not the solar panel system) away from the walls to replace behind them, this will cost thousands of dollars extra, require heavy equipment and shut down the facility for about a week. Are we allowed to butt up to the existing siding with new or does the VA want those items removed and reset? Also, the Electricians stated they cannot warranty equipment if it is removed and reset, it will be hooked up correctly but still may not work due to the nature of that kind of move on that kind of equipment.
A: The existing siding must be removed as leaks are occurring in this area. Siding should be able to be removed by breaking around the electrical panels without having to remove. You may splice two pieces together to replace but it must be sealed well.
