Q50. Demolition Plan Note 1 on Sheet AD103 indicates to, "erect temporary barriers to bar public traffic". Presumably, these barriers would also be used as part of the infection control barrier. However, the plans do not include Infection Control requirements. Do the existing walls on the west end of the corridor and walls around stairwells currently meet the fire rating and IC requirements? Do the barriers indicated in Note 1 need to be rated and extend to deck above ceiling? Is there room above ceiling to build walls to deck?
A50. The existing walls on the west end of the corridor and walls around stairwells currently meet the required fire/ smoke ratings and IC requirements. Barriers indicated in Note 1 need to be rated and extend to deck above ceiling. On the west end this temporary barrier needs to be 1-hour fire rated. Construction of this barrier will require cutting & fitting to accommodate existing utilities not scheduled for demolition. In Stair #'s 1 & 2, when the doors & frames are replaced the barriers need to extend to the underside of the plaster/ sheetrock hard lid ceilings. These barriers need to carry a 2-hour fire rating. A shaft wall system is one method to achieve this rating.

Should type P5B walls be constructed as shown, with drywall stopping 3" above ceilings, in Detail DS on Sheet AS103?
A51. Disregard Detail D5 (Partition Type P5B). All new partitions installed on this project should run the sheetrock to the underside of deck with fire/ acoustical caulking as noted on Detail D3 (Partition Type P5A).
Q52. General Plan Note 12 on Sheet AS103 indicates requirements for surface-mounted and recessed fire extinguisher cabinets. Are the FEC locations indicated on AS103 surface-mounted or recessed?

Q53. Will the contractor be allowed to install a trash chute at one of the windows for rubbish removal?
A53. Use of a trash chute will be allowed provided the dust associated with dumping of materials to be discarded is controlled; The chute would need to be fully enclosed & whether dumping into a dump truck or open dumpster the top needs to be covered. If sections of the dump shoot are damaged dumping shall cease until the damaged section has been replaced. The contractor is responsible for any costs associated with removal & replacement of the existing glazing. Construction area must be kept under negative pressure in relation to adjacent occupied spaces.
Q54. Plan Note 2 on Sheet HA103 indicates to investigate and remove pipe insulation "8th Floor Only". General Note "D" also references 8th floor. Should this say 3rd Floor since there is no work on the 8th floor?
A54. Reference to "8th Floor Only" on Plan Note 2 on Sheet# HA103 & 8 floor on General Note D are both in error. The correct reference should be 3rd Floor, B-Wing.
| Q55. Can we get a drawing that shows the pattern in corridor B3100? | Drawing AF103, Key Note 2 calls for SV-1 as the field with SV-2 as the border and cross border patterning. Drawing AF603, Al Room Finish Schedule calls for SV -1,2,3 on the floor and SV1 & 2 as the base. |
| A55. AF103, accompanying this amendment shows the extent of floor patterns and finish selections. |
