Apply gasket to the backside (horizontal edge) of the tees Apply foam tape continuously at each flange of the grid system, overlapping in corners if necessary.

6
On A103 how does the VA want to note 5 done? Does the VA have a detail to go by?

Answer: Infill gaps between the wall and the cabinets with backer rod (07 92 00 -2.3) and provide continuous sealant per specification 07 92 00 to create an air tight seal.

9
What is the basis of design brand for the hardware?

Answer: VA Cincinnati existing lockset and keying is Corbin Russwin (see attached J & A)

10
Who holds the roof warranty on each roof that work is to be conducted on? Please provide a plan as to what kind of roofing is on each roof to be worked on.

Answer: 98% of the roofs are BUR Tremco Roofs. There is no active roof warranty for the work on building 1 except for the ambulatory care tower. The intent is to maintain roof integrity.

11
Please provide structural steel drawings for the support of the mechanical equipment.

Answer: The only upgrade to existing building structure that is required is for new duplex plume fan 1-DPF1. Structural steel drawing for this is Sheet S101.

12
Is quick frame engineered structural supports allowable for structural support of the fans?

13
Please provide a plan by plan list of what work can be done at night or during the day as it is not clear in these drawings.

Answer: All work in occupied areas of the building that blocks normal traffic flows or disturbs normal business in the hospital by shutting down active systems or creating excessive noise or dust, shall be performed at night or on weekends. The exception is Inpatient areas of the building, which need to be performed during the day, so as not to disturb sleeping patients at night. Inpatient areas are as follows: Rooms A501-A528, A5083-A5100, A600-A631, A647-A675, A704-A726. Answer: No

16
Will there be adequate power for the aeroseal work? It requires (5) 20-amp outlets.

Answer: It is unclear whether the 5 outlets all need to be in the same location, whether they all need to be on different circuits, etc. There should be plenty of 20-amp outlets throughout the building.

17
On drawing 1-M1SB note 4 is this duct to be welded? What is the need for such heavy gauge? Is this duct running 10” wc negative pressure?

Answer: This duct does not need to be welded. The duct is located near the slab in a location that is traveled frequently, so the existing duct is crushed. The new duct is not running 10” wc but is specified as heavy gauge to protect it from similar physical damage in the future.

Answer: Strobic for 1-DPF1; Greenheck for all others.

19

Answer: It is unclear which exhaust fan/system this question is referring to. All new fans shall be balanced, which includes rebalancing of the entire system (fan, ducts, air devices/exhaust terminals, hoods, etc.). There are many exhaust fans that are existing to remain with no work under this project, included in the drawing set for reference only, that do not require rebalancing.

Answer: Yes.

23
On plan 1-M100B note 13, what type of finish and infill is the wall supposed to have?

RFI - EMAIL RECEIVED 9/14/2020

37
Can the VA tell us where on the project there are hard ceilings?

Refer to the noting on the drawings – any work on this project that is required above hard ceilings, a new access panel was added to accomplish the work, which is clear on the drawings. Other rooms with hard ceilings (typically very small closets that had exhaust air that is being removed), we avoided working above the ceiling in these spaces by capping ducts at walls & ceilings and abandoning duct above the hard ceiling – this is also clearly noted and shown on the drawings.
