QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS
1. Spec 01 35 26 1.9.B calls for Certified Safety Professional (CSP) to perform monthly inspections.
Can our corporate safety officer perform these inspections in lieu of a certified third-party inspector?
ANSWER – Yes.
2. The project duration for this project is shown as 100 calendar days. The previous RFP was 160 calendar days. The lead time for the sliding doors will almost certainly exceed the 100 calendar days. Will an extension be provided to accommodate the extended lead time for these sliding ICU doors? If not, it is unlikely the project can be completed within 100 calendar days.
ANSWER – Yes. Intention is 100 working days in ICU once materials are available. This is to minimize impact on ICU operations.
3. Regarding door # A-654, Which way will this door be installed RH slide or a LH slide. Standing on the exterior (Hall side) do they want the new door to slide open to the right or left.
ANSWER – Door opens as shown on sheet A101. See Addendum drawing detail of A654 door frame.
4. Regarding door # A-654, Will the door package be shortened up in width and current wall recess be built out flush with column wall.
ANSWER – See Addendum drawing detail of A654 door.
5. Are all doors per the drawing slide open in the direction indicated, is this correct for each door.
6. Due to the project requiring level IV infection control requirements, an anteroom will need to be install inside the barrier walls shown on the drawings. However, the barrier walls that are shown on the drawings do not provide enough room to install an anteroom due to its proximity to where the door work is to take place. Please advise.
ANSWER - See Addendum additional ICRA measures. ICRA barriers are shown on Sheet A101.
7. Per contract drawing A101 the infection control barrier for the door actuator relocation work is located in a hallway with no access to the window to vent a negative air machine. Can an air scrubber be used at this location instead of a negative air machine?
ANSWER – Air may be vented to corridor after passing through HEPA filter. Maintain negative air pressure in work area.
8. Per the contract specification the temporary partition walls are to be drywall and metal stud framing. Can a Starc Panel temporary partition wall system be used instead?
9. Per site visit the nursing staff was concerned about hallway spacing issues that will be caused by the infection control barriers being installed in the hallway to get beds, equipment, and patients into the ICU rooms. Due to this the nurses wanted to know if it would be possible to give the contractor all of the ICU rooms at one time for a 14-calendar daytime period and work 7 days a week to get the project complete as soon as possible to get the rooms back operational. Please advise.
ANSWER – Bid according to drawings and specifications.
10. Per the contract drawings room, A-654 new door pull handle would be located behind a chase wall bump out that the nursing staff was concerned about. The nursing staff wanted to know if the handle pull could be switched to match how the existing door pull. The Stanley Door rep who was at the site visit told them could be changed, however, the door would only open to 45 degree angle when fully open due the chase wall bump out location. It was then discussed if it worry possible to move the door opening out to be built in to the chase wall. If this was going to be done then the door opening size would be smaller. Please advise.
ANSWER – See sheet A101 and Addendum drawing detail of A654 door frame.
11. Per the contract drawing ET106 note 16 is provided at every room door location. However, rooms
A-5-654, A-655, A-658, and A-659 do not have EXISTING DOOR SENSORS WHICH
CONNECT INTO ROOM PRESSURE ALARM SYSTEM. Only rooms A-656, A-657, A-660, A-661, and A-662 have the TSI sensors referred to in note 16. Please advise.
ANSWER – ET106 note 16 applies to rooms A-656, A-657, A-660, A-661, and A-662.
12. Sheet A101 note 1.03 is used on all ICU doors. This note says existing frames to remain.
However, the door jamb/healing details show note 8.10 which appears to show a new aluminum frame for the ICU doors. Please clarify. Do the existing frames remain, or do they get replaced?
ANSWER – Remove existing door, hardware, and door frame where notes 1.03 and 8.10 apply, sheet A101.
