About this file
This is a Request for Information (RFI) question and answer document for project #557-25-704, EHRM Installation of Next Gen WiFi at the Carl Vinson VA Medical Center in Dublin, GA. The document contains four contractor questions from Blue Line Security and corresponding government responses regarding technical specifications for the WiFi installation project.
The key clarifications provided include: contractors will not be responsible for providing patch cables from patch panels to switches or touching switches (IT will handle this), WiFi access points should be mounted between 8-12 feet high with a maximum height of 15 feet, wall-mounted access points are acceptable alternatives where asbestos ceiling tiles are present, and paint color for exposed conduit will be provided by the government. The associated solicitation (#36C24725Q0353) outlines installation requirements for 23 access points, 5,000 linear feet of conduit, and 5,000 linear feet of CAT 6A cable, with work to be performed either after hours/weekends or during business hours 8 AM to 4:30 PM without disrupting patient care.

REPLY NEEDED BY:
INFORMATION NEEDED:
1) Will the contractor be required to provide patch cables from the patch panel to the switches?
2) Are there any height above the floor requirements for the mounting of the AP’s?
3) For AP17 and AP07, there appeared to be Asbestos ceiling tiles present. Would an adjacent wall mounted AP be acceptable to avoid the Asbestos?
4) I saw where the plans call for painting of the conduit where exposed. Will paint or the paint color be provided?
REPLY:
1. No- Contractors are not permitted to touch the switches, so IT will patch the cables.
2. The desirable AP height range is 8-12 ft. 15ft is the maximum allowable.
3. Wall mounted AP is acceptable to avoid asbestos.
4. Paint color will be provided.
