About this file
This is a Request for Information (RFI) response file related to RFQ #36C24725Q0353 for EHRM Installation of Next Gen WiFi at the Carl Vinson VA Medical Center in Dublin, GA. The scope involves supporting the installation of replacement and new WiFi Access Points, working in conjunction with AT&T NextGen WiFi Contractor who is responsible for the bulk of work under a separate OI&T contract.
The specific requirements include installing 23 Access Points (VA-provided, contractor-supplied mounting brackets), installing 5,000 linear feet of conduit with junction boxes, pull cords, and fire stopping throughout the Medical Center, and installing approximately 5,000 linear feet of CAT 6A cable from APs to nearest IT rooms with patch panel termination. The work requires creating new conduit paths between floors/IT rooms due to capacity limitations. Work must be performed either after hours and weekends, or during business hours (8 AM to 4:30 PM Monday-Friday) without disrupting patient care. The Department of Veterans Affairs Veterans Health Administration Veterans Integrated Service Network 7 is the contracting agency.

REPLY NEEDED BY:
INFORMATION NEEDED:
I’d like to clarify whether we can use Cat 6A plenum-rated cable in the drop ceiling area without conduit, utilizing J-hooks for support. We will use conduit in exposed areas.
REPLY:
Plenum-rated cable is not required in any areas that I’m aware of- just CAT 6A. No cable will be run through areas that serve as a pathway for conditioned air.
J-hooks can be used in drop ceiling areas. Conduit is required in exposed areas.
