Addendum 2 Project No. 534-CSI-555
Clarifications 8-13-2020
This Addendum is issued to clarify and/or modify issues with the Contract Drawings and/or Specifications as needed for the Solicitation of the Above-mentioned Project.
Question is:
1. On Drawing AS-101.1, first floor ceiling work is noted. What is ACT basis of design?
ANSWER: ACT basis of design for the 1st floor Ceiling work is Manufacturer:
USG color: Mars High-NRC) Size 2’ 0” X 2’ 0”; Grid USG DONNE Brand DX/DXL 15/16”; Edge: Shadowline with ¾” Reveal.
2. On Drawing AS-202.1 Note 9 states to verify lead lining. Contractors need to know if additional lead lined sheetrock is required. If so what quantity?
ANSWER: Note that all ductwork and other components/utilities shall be located/routed above the ceiling of Room AA223 Cardiac Cath Lab Number 2 in the new Mechanical Room (Room AA237A); and as such, no verification of the lead lining as stated by that Note 9 on Drawing AS-202.1 is required and no quantity will be required; thus the note can be deleted with the clarity provided in this answer on the routing of utilities.
3. Is Commissioning required? If so, will commissioning agent be hired by the VA or Contractor?
ANSWER: Commissioning is required. Commissioning services shall be performed by Charlotte Engineers, LLP (The MEP A/E that designed to project.)
Contact information is Chelsea Hadsel at CHadsel@charlotteengineers.com and telephone Number (704) 531-3000, x108.
4. If Commissioning is required, please provide Commissioning Specification 01 91 00.
ANSWER: Commissioning Specification 01 91 00 is provided as an Attachment to this Addendum. Commissioning Specification 27 08 00 and 28 08 00 are also added and incorporated into the requirements of this Solicitation as an mailto:CHadsel@charlotteengineers.com
pg. 2 of 5
Attachment to this Addendum. NOTE: Commissioning is required of only components installed in this Solicitation.
5. Is there a requirement to have 3 different GC personnel onsite to fill the roles of Superintendent, QC, and SSHO? If roles may be combined, which roles or may all 3 be combined under one competent person?
ANSWER: It is a requirement that 2 different GC personnel be onsite to fill the roles of Superintendent, QC, and SSHO. If two personnel are used, one must be both the Superintendent and SSHO and the other personnel is the QC.
6. Regarding the poured resinous flooring, the finish legend calls out a broadcast flake system and the specification call out a poured resilient system. There are two different systems. Which system is required?
ANSWER: The broadcast Quartz system on the Finish Plan is correct except for a small modification is being made for further clarifications. The Finish Schedule for will change from “ACCELERA HC” to “ACCELERATA Q” and read on Drawing AS-601, under the “STYLE/FINISH” portion of the “FINISH
LEGEND”.
7. No HVAC insulation spec was included, can you please provide this specification?
ANSWER: HVAC Insulation Specification has been added. Specification 23 07 11 is attached to this Addendum and shall be used.
8. Two questions were submitted on this issue. One is 8a. and the other is 8b.
8.a The drawings appear to have been formatted for an 8X11 size document, while printing in large scale or trying to use takeoff software the file does not work correctly. Can you please provide an updated drawing.
8.b. Also the plans don’t appear to be sized correctly. Would you see if you could request they be sent to the correct size and scale?
ANSWER: Drawings were revised previously to meet the scale and requirements.
9. Regarding CAV-2, the following
a. This VAV is shown to be removed (18.VAV.18) VAV Box 18.VAV18 currently serves AA237a only. Or at least it should only feed AA237a.
b. I am not sure why this box is shown to be relocated serving AA239a.
pg. 3 of 5
c. AA239A is currenting served by FC3-AA239a that was installed in 2015 under the Non Sterile HVAC project.
ANSWER: It is correct that CAV/VAV #2 can be removed along with all utilities and utilities capped. Please see revised Drawing Sheets M-004, MD-100, MD-101, MH-200, MP 201, and EP-201. Note that CAV/VAV #2 Electrical to the VA can be removed to nearest junction box.
10. Regarding AHU-16 Control Schematic.
a. I do not see any control dampers in the OA and RA. That does not seem correct. I would think at a minimum there should be manual volume dampers or Automatic Dampers in the OA/RA to ensure that you have the proper OA for Room pressurizations.
b. Flow Sensor on Each Fan shown in between the coil.? Is it the intent to simply monitor the total flow of the unit. If so, I would suggest a flow station in the SA duct of the unit. The biggest issue here is having enough straight duct for proper airflow measurement. Is Airflow Measurement truly required. If Airflow is a requirement, can the A”HU manufacturer provide the Fan piezo rings. That would be a much better solution for airflow measurement. Airflow measurement shall be provided.
c. HS – High Static? Do we really need Duct High Static on a 2600 CFM unit with no FSD’s.
d. Sequence of operation indicates SA Temperature Control and Static Pressure Control – This is a Constant Volume Zone Unit which should be controlled by Space Temperature and Humidity.
The Fan Speed will not need to be adjusted. Its Constant Volume!
ANSWER: For info, Controls Information is located on Sheet M-005. Please
See Revised Drawing M-005 attached to this RFI. That Information shall clarify the question to this Request with the additional following information. Revised M-005 supercedes any information from below which is provided for clarity if duplicate or conflicting.
a. A manual damper is required to be installed in the OA duct to control volume of OA. Balancing dampers should be installed at each return air branch line to control the individual airflow to each grille. This is covered on General Note G – on MH200 drawing.
b. Mechanical and Controls Subcontractor shall coordinate as needed with General Contractor (GC) and provide a fan piezo ring from unit manufacturer. GC, through Mechanical and Controls Subcontractor shall coordinate any and all utilities necessary to provide Piezo ring in AHU.
c. High static is not needed. Remove this from the Controls requirements; and note on Sheet M-005 during as-built note.
pg. 4 of 5
d. Provide SA temperature sensor and static pressure as indicated. Note that the AHU fan speed shall also be controlled by a Space Temperature and Humidity to meet requirement. “The intent is that the T&B the unit will be set to run based on SP setpoint established – and by the fan controlling to this setpoint, even as filters get dirty airflow will be maintained to the space via this process and/or Space Temperature and Humidity controllers.
11. Not a RFI question but this one comes from the A/E and VA as information and requirement to be incorporated.
ANSWER: Dwg ED-100 was changed to add clarity to the requirements.
12. Not a RFI question but a point of clarification on Table of Contents for Specifications.
ANSWER: Specification Section 00 010 10 Table of Contents of Specifications was updated and attached to this Addendum and shall be incorporated into the requirements for this Solicitation.
13. The specs do not include gas systems (22 63 00) but this scope appears to be included in the plans. Please verify this scope.
ANSWER: Specification Section 22 63 00 is required for this project and is
Attached for use by the contractor with this Addendum and incorporated into the requirements for this Solicitation.
14. Please verify that we are to provide only the vertical ‘L’ supports, bracing, and screw anchors for the boom system on S1.0. who will be providing the welding and will vendor drawings be provided.
ANSWER: On Construction Drawing S1.0, it specifies in Addendum 1 to the solicitation on Note V. the only portion of the project that the “Equipment” Manufacturer will be doing. All other work specified on Construction Drawing S1.0, the Construction Contractor that is awarded this solicitation will be providing all supports, bracing, screw anchors, welding, etc., etc. needed for the boom system as reflected on Construction Drawing S1.0, unless specified elsewhere. (NOTE: Equipment Booms will be provided and final installation will be coordinated between Equipment Manufacturer to Construction Contractor supports unless otherwise specified in Contract Documents.)
Vendors drawings were provided as References to the project in the original Solicitation and shown on the Cover Sheet of the Drawing (X-100).
pg. 5 of 5
15. Verify how many network drops per location.
ANSWER: Network drops have been shown as “Existing to Remain” in the walls and the boom network drops are reflected on Reference “4” to the drawings as to the Requirements.
