36C247R0116 Project #509‐326 "Construct Communtiy Living Center"

Request for Information (RFI) LOG Amendment #00006

Question # Question Government Response

Alternates 9, 9A and 10 cannot be accomplished independent of one another due to the design of the Mechanical Systems. Based on the drawings, we are to demolish the mechanical existing piping, all of the air terminal units and all of the ductwork. No phasing exists within the mechanical drawings to address these alternates. All of the piping and ductwork for these alternates originate from outside wing D which means in order to complete any one of the individual alternates 9, 9A and 10, all of the piping and ductwork will have to be removed back through the entrance of wing D to the mechanical room source. When we do that, it will affect all of wing D and the mechanical design does not address how we would tie back the other alternate areas that would not be touched if only one of the alternates is selected. Without a phased mechanical design, alternates 9, 9A and 10 cannot be priced independently, because there is overlap work that would have to be included in each of the alternates if they are selected independent of each other. Also, the mechanical scope is not defined on how the alternates can be built independently thus a realistic price for these items cannot be determined.

MECHANICAL SUB‐CONTRACTOR IN CONVERSATION WITH MECHANICAL ENGINEER

STATES THAT “WHILE CONFUSING, THE HVAC SYSTEM WILL WORK PER ALTERNATES.”

RFI 24 response states to address interior design deductives as a stand alone condition. We do not know what this means? There is no place on the bid price sheet to address these alternates.

DELETE INTERIOR DESIGN DEDUCTIVE ALTERNATES.

RFI 31 conflicts with alternate #7. RFI #31 states to install PT‐1 on the surfaces of the low wall at the front porch, but the alternate #7 indicates to install NS‐1,2 in lieu of thin coat finish system.

ID1.00 and ID1.01 is the only location for which we have found reference to NS‐1,2 at those planter walls. The information is conflicting and we do not know what to bid.

DELETE REFERENCES TO NS‐1 AND NS‐2.

RFI 35 states that the base bid package is LED lighting. Additive Alternate #8 is Add All Lay‐in LED Light Fixtures in lieu of Fluorescent Lay‐in Troffers. What do we bid in the base bid vs the Alternate #8?

ACCORDING TO OUR ELECTRICAL ENGINEER, THERE IS NO ALTERNATE FOR FLUORESENT

FIXTURES. BASE BID IS LED LIGHTING. NO ALTERNATE FOR FLUORESCENT.
