About this file
This file is a Follow Up to RFI (Request for Information) document for a VA Medical Center project involving fire and smoke damper replacements in Asheville, NC. The document addresses multiple clarification questions from potential contractors, including key details about project staffing, work hours, and site conditions. Significant clarifications include: one superintendent and safety officer per project/construction site, after-hours work required on the first floor and 2 south wings (specific rooms A274 and A272), and confirmation that no walls will be removed during the project. Additional technical details involve contact information for Building Management Systems (BMS) and Fire Alarm integration contractors, and guidance on accessing facility drawings for review, which are located in Building 15's 3rd floor plans room and require prior notice during business hours.

Follow Up Questions - Dampers
RFI Question #3 Not Answered In Specification 01 45 00 3.1 A
In the case where a Prime Contractor is awarded multiple projects at the same VA Medical Center location, can one (1) Superintendent be assigned to oversee all awarded projects at the site? Since the word “site” could be defined as the property, this would also apply to the SSHO.
No. One super and one SSHO per project/construction site. Superintendent is expected to be on the construction site at all times.
RFI Question #16 Not Answered Until Question #48
RFI answer for question #48 states:
As the surgical suite was not mentioned in the SOW, please confirm that there is no other scope of work that needs to be performed outside of regular hours besides the fire dampers in the surgical suite, or alternatively, please provide all locations of work that will need to be performed outside of regular work hours.
Work on first floor and 2 south (A274, and A272) should be planned for after hours.
RFI Question #19 Not Answered
Should bond premium overruns be included with each individual modification? We ask because there is a particular clause that states bond premium overruns are to be invoiced at the end of the project for all modifications.
Terms of the Clause shall govern.

RFI Question #58 & 59 Not Answered Sufficiently
58) ACT in most areas. Hard ceiling in 5th floor A571(18” access), B527, 5E525(Multiple 18” or smaller accesses). Penthouse no ceiling.
The mechanical general note B on 47-M001 states:
General note B is moot and is not enforceable as the contractor does not have access and has not been given access to all piping, fixtures, ductwork, and outlets as stated. As such please provide a reflective ceiling plan as this is not only need for mechanical but also for the electrical work. Please also provide notes on the reflective ceiling plan showing where ceilings will need to be replaced or repaired as this is not the role of a contractor to determine, but rather that of an AE.
No, RCP exists. Please refer to Answer to 58.

Electrical Demolition General Note E states “where existing walls are to be removed” yet the drawings don’t show any walls to be removed. Please confirm that no walls are being removed.
