About this file

This document is a set of Additional Questions related to a VA Medical Center project for replacing fire and smoke dampers in Asheville, NC. The project involves working on multiple building levels in at least 4 phases, with a total project duration of 235 calendar days after notice to proceed. Key technical requirements include using HEPA-equipped Negative Air Machines in each work area, with ceiling heights varying from 8' typical to 17.5' in the penthouse.

Specific operational details include HVAC system shutdowns anticipated to take 3 hours, with some work requiring after-hours scheduling (specifically on the first floor and 2 south areas). The VA requires contractors to submit and receive approval for their phasing plan, with flexibility in damper replacement timing. Maintenance personnel will need approximately 15-30 minutes to shut down HVAC systems before work can commence. The solicitation (36C24625B0002) is specifically for the N045 project to replace fire and smoke dampers at the Asheville, NC VA Medical Center, under the Veterans Health Administration's Veterans Integrated Service Network 6.
