About this file
This document includes a request for information and response related to an existing retaining wall at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Baltimore, Maryland, as well as a pre-solicitation notice for construction services to build a hospice unit at the Loch Raven VAMC.
The request for information seeks as-built drawings and installation details for an existing retaining wall, including contractor contact information. The response provides attached shop drawings and notes that field verification of wall conditions is required.
The pre-solicitation notice announces plans to solicit a firm-fixed price contract between $10-20 million for construction of an approximately 20,000 square foot hospice unit addition. The 100% service-disabled veteran-owned small business set-aside project will be located at the Loch Raven VAMC with a tentative invitation date of June 4, 2020, bid opening on July 8, 2020, and completion within 540 days.

VAMHCS Response: As-built drawings were not provided as part of the previous contract. However, see attached for the shop drawings provided by Griffith Brothers and reviewed by Century Engineering for the constructed wall. Please note that the design for the current project was based upon the VERSA-LOK wall system design from the original wall design plans by Century Engineering, dated March 04, 2009. The Griffith Brothers, Inc. constructed wall (as shown on the attached shop drawings) was a Keystone Wall system. As stated on L-6, the Contractor must verify the existing conditions of the constructed wall. A Keystone Wall system may be used for the current project, shop drawings (provided by the Contractor) are required as well as approval of said shop drawings prior to Construction.
