About this file

This document is a Questions and Answers (Q&A) file dated March 25, 2025, related to a federal contract opportunity for the Hudson Valley VA Medical Center, Montrose Campus. The Q&A addresses two specific Requests for Information (RFIs) concerning electrical and architectural details for the project.

RFI 1 clarifies that all panels relocated within corridor walls must be returned to fire-rated conditions matching existing glazed masonry finishes. RFI 2 provides detailed instructions regarding electrical panel work in Building #14, specifically requiring the contractor to demolish and replace conduit and conductors for Panels B14-ERM-CHLNGR and B14-G-9-L-R. The response confirms that the B14 Distribution Panel is to be installed, and both existing panels must be re-fed from this new panel, with all associated demolition and new work to be reflected in the contractor's pricing.

Questions and Answers – March 25, 2025

RFI 1:

• 3 &4 /A-001 Architectural Details show a fire rated wall with CMU backup and a typical wall with metal studs and sheathing. Should we assume all infills are fire rated? Details are not referenced for each location.

Response:

All panels to be relocated are within corridor walls. It shall be assumed that all infills within corridor walls are to be returned to fire rated conditions as described in detail 3/A-001 and match existing glazed masonry (finish)

RFI 2:

In Building #14, Drawing #ED-155 indicates the removal of the feeder for existing panels B14-ERM- CHLNGR and B14-G-9-L-R. Additionally, Drawing #E-159 shows a new distribution panel (B14) feeding back to these panels. However, the scope of work does not mention this. Should we include this work in our pricing, or is someone else responsible for it?

RFI 2 Response:

The demolition and replacement of the conduit and conductors for Panels B14-ERM-CHLNGR and B14-G-9-L-R shall be included in the scope of work and reflected in the contractor’s pricing. See Contract Document Drawings for associated demolition and new work.

B14 Distribution Panel is to be installed. The two existing panels noted—B14-ERM-CHLNGR and B14-G-9-L-R—are to remain in service but must be re-fed from B14 Distribution Panel.

• The existing feeder conduit and conductors for Panel B14-ERM-CHLNGR, which are currently tapped off the main feeder serving Panel B14-G-9-L-R, are to be demolished. This panel shall be re-fed from B14 Distribution Panel, as shown in Drawings 1/ED-155 and 1/E- 159.

• The existing feeder conduit and conductors for Panel B14-G-9-L-R shall be demolished and re-fed from B14 Distribution Panel, as shown in Drawings 1/ED-155 and 1/E-159.
