Pre-Bid RFIs
The following pre-bid RFIs were received by contractors in regards to the project titled above. VA responses are provided and shall be included within the scope and general understanding of this contract.
1. The glass is not clearly called out in the spec. A101 refers to Impact Glass (No Impact Framing is called out). GL-1 and GL-2 is called out, but the spec does not clearly state what it is.
Response: On drawing A101, the glazing types are labeled as insulated, low e, impact safety rated. The difference between the 2 is that GL-2 contains integral muntins. The specifications provide the make-up for an insulated glazing unit with low e coatings and other qualities.
For reference only: Impact safety rated in this case refers to the glazing being tempered;
heat strengthen glass rather than standard float glass. This glass typically breaks at a higher force and does so into fine pieces that reduce risk of injury.
