About this file

This document is a Joint Venture and Set-Aside Program guide issued by the Bergen County Board of County Commissioners and County Executive in New Jersey. The program aims to promote economic inclusion and equal opportunities for businesses seeking to contract with the county for construction, architecture, engineering, professional services, and goods procurement. The document details the registration process for businesses through the Bergen County Purchasing portal (www.bergenbids.com), where vendors can access current business opportunities, download specifications, and track past awards.

The program specifically focuses on supporting four types of qualified businesses: Minority Business Enterprises (MBE), Women's Business Enterprises (WBE), Veteran Business Enterprises (VBE), and Small Business Enterprises (SBE). To qualify, businesses must have their principal place of business in New Jersey, be independently owned and operated, and meet specific ownership criteria (at least 51% owned and controlled by the respective group). Certification can be obtained through various government agencies, including the State of New Jersey Department of Treasury, Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, NJ Transit, the U.S. Small Business Administration, and the U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs. Interested businesses can contact Glen Gardner at agardner@co.bergen.nj.us or (201) 336-7112 for more information about certification and potential opportunities.
