About this file

This is a compliance matrix spreadsheet for Storage Ring ID Transition Chambers being procured by Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (LBNL) for the Advanced Light Source Upgrade project. The matrix details specific requirements across multiple categories including deliverables, documentation, quality assurance, and technical specifications.

Key requirements include manufacturing both first article and production units of SR ID Transition Chamber assemblies, with the first article being AL-1613-4769 ID Transition Chamber for ST4U Taper. Technical specifications mandate a vacuum pressure of 1e-10 Torr, CuCrZr material hardness greater than HRB 70, temperature limits of 300C during fabrication, and specific cleaning/testing protocols for ultra-high vacuum (UHV) environments. The vendor must provide comprehensive documentation including 3D CAD models, manufacturing drawings, quality plans, and test reports. Critical manufacturing processes include specific requirements for welding, cleaning, and final assembly in cleanroom conditions. Detailed packaging and shipping requirements are specified, including custom crating designs, labeling, and environmental controls during transport and storage. All work must comply with various international standards and LBNL's UHV Chamber Production Requirements document AL-1220-7841.

May – is used to indicate a desire or goal of a specification. This can also be interpreted ‘as nice to have’ and are not contractually binding.
Shall –is a specification that is contractually binding and must be implemented.
Should – is used to indicate a desire or goal of a specification. This can also be interpreted ‘as nice to have’ and are not contractually binding
Will – is used to inform intent or declaration of purpose. This is not a specification. Example, the author will use the word ‘shall’ to indicate that a specification is contractually binding and must be implemented.
