Amendment A0002:

1.

Drawings

Furniture. I can’t find anything on who is responsible for procuring the furniture for this project. There isn’t a specification section for it;

however, all the furniture is scheduled on sheets A11.1, .2, .3.

DOR

Documents are being revised to reflect direction.

2.

Specs

Artwork. According to section 12 46 00 Furniture Accessories the contractor is responsible for one piece of artwork - “ART-6”. The specifications also state that a RFP document is to be distributed to a list of sources. It is be reviewed by the interior designer. Can you clarify how we should handle this.

Documents are being revised to reflect direction.

3.

The wood decking specification 06 15 00 calls for materials to be harvested within 500 miles of the project site. This project is not a LEED project… Is this a requirement. Specified companies that provide these products are outside this limit.

Spec is being updated to remove requirement

4.

The wood decking specification 06 15 00 calls for clear white pine and industrial grade which does not correspond to the Lockdeck specification. Typically for exposed wood roofs a 3x6 Douglas Fir, decorative grade Lockdeck species is provided to match the glulam members. Please verify species that is to be used. Sheet S0.2 calls for Dougles Fir decking…

Structurally, meet design criteria indicated on S0.2. Spec section 06 15 00 is being updated to match typical Lockdeck spec for Douglas Fir.

5.

Wood decking 06 15 00 and Glulam 06 18 00 specifications call for fire treated wood and pressure treatment. These are two different processes. Please verify what is required.

Spec section 06 15 00 is being updated to remove fire treatment requirement and clarifying that pressure treatment be used at exterior applications.

Glulam beams on sheet S2.2, are these to be single members or 3 members fastened together? No information is provided for 3 members being fastened together…

Beams were designed as built-up from 5.5x24 members. Can be single member if profile can be achieved more economically. Fasten multiple layer manufactured wood members together in accordance with the manufacturer's recommendations.

Glulam sizes are shown as 16-1/2” W x 24” D. If this is a single beam the nominal size would 16-1/4” W. If this is three separate beams fastened together typical sizes are 5-1/8” and 6-1/4” which would net 15-3/8” and 20-1/4” W…

Beams were designed as built-up from 5.5x24 members. Can be single member if profile can be achieved more economically. Fasten multiple layer manufactured wood members together in accordance with the manufacturer's recommendations.

Doing some research on existing utilities on the project site. There are many existing utilities that need to be removed or relocated. As an example, we have contacted Glacier Electric. They will have to charge for the removal / relocating existing services as well as the new electrical service with transformer for the building. Is the contractor responsible for paying for the local utility company charges. Glacier Electric – Electrical. Northwestern Energy – Gas.

Siyeh Communications – Communications. Please clarify.

Yes Contractor is responsible for local utility company charges associated with modifying these utilities

Amendment 0003 9 Specs Referencing Section 32 31 23 Vinyl Fencing and Gates and Sheet

SP1.1 Architectural Site Plan. Simply put, it is not wise to try and install an 8’0” tall vinyl privacy fence at this location. The fencing will never hold up to the weather in Browning. A chain link fence with privacy slats should be specified. Posts at 6’0” oc. Please consider changing this.

DOR Changes to the fencing / gates shall be chain link fence with privacy slat. DOR will provide a changed design and specification section at time of award. Similar dimension (ie.

height of fence) and other characteristics to that of the current fence shall be provided in the proposal.

10 Specs Regarding response to Question 3 on 8.31.22. If the glulam is to be pressure treated it would need to be pressured treated for the entire length. The cantilevered extensions are under cover. Is a pressure treatment really needed. Maybe field application should be considered if it is necessary…

DOR After reevaluating, the design does have beam/s that are outside, but should be protected from the elements. The pressure treatment requirement can be removed. This can be addressed and remedied during the substitution / submittal phase of the project.

11 Specs Regarding response to Question 6 on 8.31.22. The local utility companies will not provide the contractors with a price to deal with the building utilities. This is not something that anybody can accurately include in their proposals. The government should be responsible for these costs

CO The Contractor is responsible for coordinating and installing the building utilities.

12 Specs Spec section 26 32 13 – Packaged Engine Generator System. 1.08B

(2) states that the supplier shall have a service facility located within 100 miles of the project site. That is not possible for our area. One suppliers’ facility is located in Great Falls, several in Billings, MT.

DOR Supplier shall have a service facility within 500 miles of the project site.

13 Specs Sheet E6.1 One line power riser diagram shows a “Temporary Generator Connection Cabinet”; however, there isn’t any information in 26 32 13 as to what is required. Please clarify.

DOR Temporary Generator Connection Cabinet shall be a Trystar, or equal, generator docking station with male camlocks to connect a temporary power source with the following characteristics: 60A, 120/208V 3 phase, NEMA 3R enclosure.

14 Specs Please clarify if a 3rd Party engineer is required to provide the design of the glulam beam members per the specifications and drawings. Given the sizes and connections are in the structural drawings we want to confirm that this is really needed.

DOR Glulam member design (sizing) is per the structural drawings.

Deviations based on supplier’s product line (dimensionality, etc.) shall be engineered by manufacturer. Connections shall be designed by manufacturer as indicated in general notes and following design intent as detailed.

15 Specs Specification Section 02510 of the MPWSS – Asphalt Concrete Pavement. Which surface coarse aggregate shown in Table 1 on Page 3 should be used for the project. Also, what grade asphalt cements shown in paragraph 2.3A1 is to be used for the project.

DOR Type B aggregate from the table should be used.

16 Specs Sheet C0.1 General Note #12 notes that the Geotechnical Report is available upon request. We would like to request that document.

DOR Document attachment Geo Report has been incorporated

17 Specs Sheet C0.1 General Note #3 states that all construction and materials are to be in accordance with the project drawings and specifications, unless otherwise noted in the plans or included in the project special provisions. What are the project special provisions?

DOR This is a typical note, no additional special provisions required beyond the project drawings and specifications.
