About this file
This is a specification document for plumbing fixtures prepared by the Fontana Unified School District, a K-12 public school district serving approximately 32,000 students across 45 school sites in San Bernardino County, California. The specification details requirements for water closets, urinals, lavatories, service sinks, drinking fountains, floor sinks, and related plumbing components required for the District's facilities. The document provides detailed product specifications including manufacturers, models, materials, finishes, and performance standards. Required manufacturers include Kohler Co. for fixtures, Chicago Faucet Co. for brassware, Sloan Valve Co. for flushometers, and Haws for drinking water fountains. All fixtures must comply with applicable California Building Code requirements, the 2001 California Plumbing Code, and various ASME and ANSI standards for water flow rates, construction quality, and accessibility requirements for people with disabilities. Installation requirements are specified in the execution section, including fixture assembly, mounting procedures, connection specifications, and protective coverings.
The specification establishes minimum performance and material standards for plumbing fixture procurement and installation as part of the District's broader Portable Buildings - Maintenance & Repairs bid (Bid No. 25/26-0045), with sealed bids due by 2:00 pm on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, through the procurement portal at https://procurement.opengov.com/portal/fusd. The District estimates annual maintenance and repair costs may reach $1,500,000, with the resulting contract covering four additional years, not to exceed five years total. All fixtures must meet accessibility standards in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act and California Building Code Section 1115B. Submittal requirements include product data, operation and maintenance documentation, and verification of compliance with NSF 61 standards for potable water contact materials.
