About this file

This document is a detailed technical specification for elevator modernization at the East Orange VA Medical Center in New Jersey. The project involves comprehensive upgrades to multiple service and passenger elevators (Elevators 7-8, 11, 12-13, and 16-17), including replacement of critical components such as hoisting machines, controllers, door operators, car enclosures, control systems, and electrical infrastructure. The specifications outline requirements for new equipment from specific manufacturers, including Imperial (machines), Smartrise Engineering (controllers), and others, with a focus on meeting ASME A17.1 2019 safety code standards.

Key technical requirements include installing microprocessor control systems, regenerative drives, new LED lighting, emergency power capabilities, two-way communication systems, and comprehensive machine room and hoistway modifications. The project mandates performance standards such as smooth acceleration/deceleration, precise floor leveling (within 3mm), noise reduction, and advanced safety features. The elevators will serve multiple floors, have a 4000 lb rated load, and speeds ranging from 200-500 feet per minute. The specification also details extensive warranty, maintenance, and inspection requirements, with the contractor responsible for a one-year warranty period and providing complete maintenance services throughout that timeframe.
