About this file

This is a Questions and Answers document addressing technical aspects of the AFRH keyless lock system replacement project across two campuses. The document clarifies that Salto cloud's limitation regarding independent floor elevator control is acceptable, and addresses door functionality requirements - specifying that malfunctioning but compatible doors will be repaired by facility maintenance, while incompatible doors will require vendor coordination with AFRH for modifications funded through an IDIQ line item.

The vendor must provide one year of internet service at both campuses, and cabling can be installed as free air where equipment operation is not impacted. The requirement is for 1,000 cards, and while XS4 original locks are acceptable alternatives to AElement locks, there is a preference for residential-looking locks on resident room doors, with XS4 Mini locks suggested as a minimalist option if compatible. Special consideration is given to historic doors on the DC campus to avoid modifications.

QuestionsAnswers
Salto cloud does not support independent floor elevator control. Is this still acceptable?Yes
We are putting a locks on functioning doors. If the door is not functioning properly or capable for this, will it be reimbursable to provide a fully functional door/frame?If the door is malfunctioning, but compatible with standard door hardware, the facility maintenance contractor will repair the doors to function as designed, and the vendor will install the new keyless locks as part of the fix contract fee. If the door is not compatible with standard door hardware, the contractor is to work with AFRH to determine an acceptable modification or alteration that the vendor will implement. The funding will come from an IDIQ line on the contract for unforeseen installation requirements not listed in the contract or the vendors proposal.
Will internet service be provided at each location? No, the vendor is to supply 1 year of service at both campuses
Is all security, communication cabling to be run in conduit or is free air acceptable in certain locations?Free air is acceptable in any location as long as the equipment operates without issue.
How many credentials are you looking to have and what type?
•Cards
•Fobs
•Mobile1000 cards
Will XS4 original be an acceptable alternative to the AElement lock specified in the scope of work?
The XS4 original is compatible with Space, KS, or Homelok. The AElement is only compatible with Space. While any Salto lock that is compatible with AFRH door and the system provided by the vendor is acceptable, we prefer locks that are residential looking for the doors of a residents room. If the XS series is the only available lock for the system provided by the vendor, we would prefer installing something that is minimalist like the XS4 Mini locks on the doors if compatiablity is not an issue. If compatibility is an issue, utilize the Salto lock wihich would not result in door modifications; especially on the historic doors on the DC campus.
