About this file

This is Addendum No. 1 to the Invitation for Bids issued by the Town of Strasburg, Virginia on May 4, 2026, for the purchase and delivery of one dump truck for the Public Works Department. The addendum clarifies specifications and answers ten questions submitted by prospective bidders regarding chassis preferences, dump body materials, transmission options, engine horsepower, and undercoating requirements. The deadline for submitting technical questions is 2:00 PM local time on May 11, 2026, with sealed bids due by 2:00 PM on May 15, 2026. The successful bidder must deliver the vehicle within 60 calendar days of purchase order issuance, with flexibility to extend the delivery timeline if an identified truck is not currently available. The Town prefers International or Freightliner chassis, an Allison 2500 RDS transmission, 300 HP engines, and rubber undercoating covering the entire underside excluding critical components. The dump body will haul dirt, rock, concrete, asphalt, stone, and salt, and the vehicle is replacing an existing truck in the Town's fleet.

Award will be made to the lowest responsive and responsible bidder determined to be in the best interest of the Town, subject to available funding and required approvals. The addendum specifies that all contract documents and technical specifications remain unchanged from the original solicitation. Prospective bidders must acknowledge receipt of the addendum by signing and including it with their bid package. Additional project documentation is available on the eVA site and the Town's website. All questions and submission inquiries should be directed to Ray Heishman, Superintendent of Public Works, at (540) 465-3025 or rheishman@strasburgva.com.
