About this file
This is a Goat Browsing and Herd Detail Form submitted in response to Solicitation #2026-959, issued by the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources for a two-year goat browsing project at Minnewaska Native Prairie Bank in Pope County near Glenwood, Minnesota. The project requires contractors to provide labor, equipment, materials, tools, transportation, and incidentals to reduce woody brush and increase native prairie and Wet Meadow/Carr plant diversity across 45 acres using goat browsing, woody removal, and herbicide treatments over two seasons. Bidders must submit electronic responses through the Swift Portal by July 29, 2026 (extended deadline per Addendum #1). Prior to bidding, contractors may arrange site visits by contacting Project Supervisor Joe Walton at 218-608-8553 or Joseph.walton@state.mn.us. The form requires detailed specifications including herd breed types (Boer, Boer-cross, Spanish, Savanna, Kiko, or other), quantities, and average ages of goats; expected total herd size; proposed browsing methods with details on paddock size, rotation length, grazing density, and water provision; monitoring and escape/predation/disease response protocols; and recommendations regarding herbicide application integration with goat browsing.
Unit pricing must be all-inclusive of labor, materials, tools, transportation, equipment, sales tax, use tax, and all costs necessary for project completion. The award will be made to the lowest responsible vendor meeting all specifications and terms and conditions, with the State reserving the right to award items separately, by grouping, or by total as deemed most advantageous. Any changes or additions to listed herd animals require an updated form and Project Supervisor approval. Contractors must certify that all information provided is accurate, with false statements constituting grounds for contract forfeiture and potential legal penalties.
